أكد بيب جوارديولا ، المدير الفني لنادي مانشستر سيتي، أن فريقه قد نسى أمر الهزيمة أمام نيوكاسل يونايتد في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز ، وذلك قل مواجهة باير ليفركوزن في بطولة دوري أبطال أوروبا.

مانشستر سيتي سوف يستضيف نظيره باير ليفركوزن يوم غدًا الثلاثاء على ملعب الاتحاد، ضمن إطار الجولة الخامسة من مرحلة الدوري في بطولة دوري أبطال أوروبا.

ويسعى مانشستر سيتي للفوز على ليفركوزن من أجل مصالحة جماهيره، عقب الهزيمة القاسية التي تعرض لها السيتيزن ضد نيوكاسل يوم السبت الماضي 2-1 بالدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وقال جوارديولا خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الخاص باللقاء ، والذي نقلته شبكة ”cityxtra” : ”نسينا أمر الهزيمة أمام نيوكاسل فورًا. كانت هناك بعض الأفكار حول ما حدث، لكنها مباراة مهمة للغاية ضد باير ليفركوزن”.

James Coles top-scored for them with 47 off 54 balls.New-ball seamer Jack White impressed with 3 for 21 from 17 overs, with the first of his wickets coming courtesy of what was labelled in some quarters as one of the all-time great catches by Wharton running back towards deep square-leg.Yorkshire came into this fixture second-bottom after 10 of 14 matches. They were seven points away from third-bottom and eighth-placed Durham, with Sussex only 21 ahead of the White Rose in fifth.These two counties were promoted from Division Two last summer. Yorkshire beat Sussex here last August. In fact, Sussex have never won a first-class match at North Marine Road. This is their 11th attempt. If Yorkshire’s start is anything to go by, that run may extend.Quite where Wharton’s catch stands on the list of all-time great grabs is difficult to say with certainty. What can be said with certainty, however, is that was a truly outstanding catch. Everton were pegged back by Jarrod Bowen’s second-half goal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, leaving David Moyes’ side three games without a win, but there was much to like about this Monday night effort in the Premier League.

However, there’s a sense that the Toffees might be somewhat one-dimensional in their approach play right now, funnelling the ball out to Jack Grealish, who wasn’t at his best against the Hammers but remained the brightest spark.

Problems persist regarding number nine. Beto toiled once again, missing a good opportunity to score in the first half, and Thierno Barry lacked composure and positional intelligence across his second-half cameo.

However, there were bright sparks for Moyes and his team as they drew this match against West Ham United.

James Tarkowski hasn’t quite looked himself so far this season, and all of an Everton persuasion will be eager to see Jarrad Branthwaite complete his long-awaited return from injury and settle back into the backline.

However, the decision to extend Michael Keane’s contract before the summer was rubber-stamped after his thumping header after 18 minutes, rising and directing into the net with such emphatic power.

Grealish we have mentioned, but his alternative wideman, Iliman Ndiaye, was also bright, winning four duels and creating two chances, as per Sofascore. However, the Senegalese’s sharpness when it matters could do with some work.

Off the bench, Tyler Dibling also looked bright. The teenager stepped in for Ndiaye and put in a promising late-stage display, leading The Athletic’s Patrick Boyland to comment that he “would like to see much more” of the fleet-footed talent.

However, there’s another man who often goes under the radar who deserves a bit of credit. Indeed, James Garner put in an impressive, workmanlike performance in the middle of the park, showcasing his technical skill besides with the delivery for Keane’s thumping header.

Garner has been at Everton for a while now, joining from Manchester United for £15m in 2022. He has played 92 times for the Merseysiders and has made a positive impression since Moyes replaced Sean Dyche at the start of the year.

As Sofascore reveal, Garner took 82 touches, more than any other player on the field, completed 88% of his passes, won three of four ground duels and found the target with four long balls across the evening. The Liverpool Echo handed him a 7/10 match rating for his labours.

Given that he has already played three times as a stand-in left-back this season, the 24-year-old could grow into Moyes’ next Baines, should he continue to go from strength to strength.

Now Everton’s assistant manager, Baines was one of the most talented left-backs in the Premier League during his long stint at Goodison Park, hailed by Kevin Phillips for having “a wand of a left foot”.

Baines made creativity an art form for defenders before it was cool. He boasted such accuracy on the ball and was intelligent with his passes. Furthermore, Baines was very much a set-piece specialist.

While Garner isn’t a defender, his versatility lends itself to the berth, and there’s no denying he has an eye for a pass that doesn’t differ all that much from Baines’ back in his heyday.

Moreover, he has a power in his ball-striking which nearly came up trumps. His ferocious strike late on bore testament to that.

It’s worth pointing out that Garner’s contract expires next summer, and with work still needed across a range of positions, it feels vital that the industrious Englishman’s terms are renewed.

Moyes has previously acknowledged the scale of Everton’s rebuild and that it would take more than just the one transfer window to bring it all together.

Recent results have underscored that, for sure, but with players like Garner doing the hard yards, Moyes will be sure to retain the essence of his long-standing philosophy while imbuing his team with new modern touches. Garner embodies both.

It was a disaster from the off for the Gers, who were instantly a man down when Max Aarons received his marching orders inside 10 minutes. An uphill battle was quickly made an impossible task and Club Brugge took full advantage, scoring five goals in the first half to take an 8-1 lead on aggregate before adding a sixth to hand Rangers an embarrassing 9-1 defeat.

Simply put, it could not have been worse for Martin, who could not hide his humiliation.

It doesn’t get any easier for those at Ibrox, either. A trip to face Old Firm rivals Celtic awaits this weekend in what may only compile Martin’s misery or perhaps even be the final nail in the coffin of what has been a nightmare stint in Scotland.

That said, the transfer window could still act as a crucial turning point for the Englishman amid reports that the 49ers are now “in talks” to sign a Premier League forward.

According to The Times’ Paul Joyce, the 49ers and Rangers are now “in talks” to sign Youssef Chermiti on loan from Everton this week with just days remaining of the window.

The young forward could replace Hamza Igamane, who is set to join LOSC Lille not long after refusing to come from the bench in the Gers’ last-gasp draw against St Mirren last weekend.

Replacing a talented forward like Igamane will be no easy task, but it appears that Chermiti has emerged as a leading candidate. Praised as “superb” by scout Jacek Kulig during his time at Sporting Club, Chermiti is also represented by the same agent as Rangers’ summer arrival Thelo Aasgaard, which could make any deal far more routine.

Moyes delighted after historic Everton victory

The Blues’ first-ever competitive game at their new stadium couldn’t have gone much better, following a 2-0 win against Brighton in the league on Sunday afternoon.

It was a proud day for Everton manager David Moyes, in terms of being in charge of the opening match at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and he loved what he saw from his players and the fans.

“It was everything we wished for. We wanted a positive result today. We had a great atmosphere, a terrific new stadium. What I’m trying to do is hopefully give everybody a team which we can enjoy watching and be proud of. Today came close with their effort, their commitment.

“Some of the quality was very good, but there were other bits of it not so good. But, overall, really pleased with the result. [The atmosphere] was really good. I’ve got to say, we want to build on it. We have to build on it. We have to make sure that we’ve a stadium where, even when the game’s a bit lulled, the supporters keep with us all the way.”

Everton showed enough quality to suggest that they can enjoy a much-improved season in 2025/26, but that doesn’t mean that further signings aren’t needed this summer.

Everton "looking" to sign Yves Bissouma

Speaking to Football Insider, former scout turned transfer insider Mick Brown reports Everton still have Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma on their “radar” before the window closes next Monday.

“He’s a player Moyesy likes so I have no doubt he’s on their radar, especially if Tottenham are planning to listen to offers for him. I saw him play for Brighton against Wolves a couple of years ago and he didn’t put a foot wrong, he was brilliant and it was a really impressive performance. I don’t think he’s shown that since he’s been at Tottenham to be honest.

“Maybe the set-up there doesn’t work for him, I don’t know what it is. But a move somewhere like Everton might be what gets the best out of him, playing under David Moyes in more of a structured system. I think Tottenham have been open to letting him go, so if Everton are interested then there will be a deal to be done.

“They’re not the only side interested in him, but he’s also not the only player they’ve been looking at. If they decide he’s the one they want, it’s a deal that could work out for everybody.”

The £55,000-a-week Bissouma is now a hugely experienced player with 191 Premier League appearances to his name, so he could be a shrewd addition for Everton, with 35-year-old Idrissa Gueye not able to play every week now.

At 28, the Spurs midfielder is at a good age to come straight in as a key man for the Blues, and the fact that he is struggling to be a prominent figure in north London means a move away could appeal.

Bissouma would be a slight risk, considering he has arguably tailed off at Spurs, as Brown alludes to, but if Moyes believes he can get the best out of the Mali international, The Freidkin Group should make a move for him.

وواصل: “كل الذين قالوا إننا لن نشاهد مباراة جيدة نظرًا لمستوى الفريقين، خاب ظنهم، فهي مباراة تليق بالكرة المصرية، والجماهير استمتعت، مبروك لكل اللاعبين والمصابين ونتطلع لعودتهم”.

وتابع: “أقول لجماهير الأهلي إن الفريق هو الأقوى في إفريقيا، نريد الهدوء والثقة باللاعبين، نحن نسير في الطريق الصحيح، ولا تصدقوا 90% من الأخبار الكاذبة”.

وأكمل: “لدينا مصادر رسمية، وأنا شخصيًا أصرح دائمًا، فلا تسعوا خلف الأخبار الكاذبة ويُقال إن زيزو جاء إلى المعسكر وجلس معي ومع عماد النحاس قبل مباراة الزمالك، كلام عارٍ عن الصحة، نحن فريق جيد ونتدرب بشكل جيد جدًا”.

وتابع: “أمامنا مباراة بعد ثلاثة أيام، إن شاء الله نفوز بها، ثم نخوض فترة التوقف بهدوء”.

وأردف: “في أول 10 دقائق لم نكن جيدين، لكن بعد ذلك امتلكنا الملعب بالكامل نادي الزمالك أتيحت له فرصتان في البداية، ثم أصبحت المباراة سجالًا، ثم أصبحنا أفضل بكثير وفي الشوط الثاني كان اللعب من جانبنا فقط ولم تصل أي كرة إلى الشناوي”.

وأشار: “هذه سمة الفرق الكبيرة، أنها تعود من التأخر وتحقق المكسب، حتى مع الغيابات، الأهلي فريق كبير ومبروك لجماهير الأهلي فرحتهم، والأهلي مهما وقع له شيء، لديه آلاف من المؤيدين”.

وأكمل: “ملف المدير الفني مع الكابتن الخطيب ولجنة التخطيط، لا يوجد فيه شيء جديد، هناك سير ذاتية تُعرض وقد تحدث نقاشات، لكن يوجد مدربين يعتذرون أو يختلفون على الأرقام، أو مدربين لا يريدون العمل في المنطقة العربية”.

وأتم: “لا بد أن نوجه الشكر لعماد النحاس على ما يقدمه مع الفريق، فهو يستحق التقدير والإشادة”.
