Sam Allardyce urges Man Utd to deal with Pogba and Lukaku futures immediately

Speaking to talkSPORT, former England manager Sam Allardyce has urged Manchester United to sort out the futures of Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba sooner rather than later.

What did he say?

Reports in recent weeks have suggested both the Belgian and the Frenchman have been angling for a move away from Old Trafford this summer, but there has appeared to be very little movement in either case.

Following comments from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that the Red Devils were in no need to sell players this summer, Allardyce has claimed that the Norwegian needs to take control of the situation well before the end of the transfer window.

The indoor football skills in the video below have to be seen to be believed…

He said: “Ole has to go to the owners and say, ‘yes he’s definetely one we want to keep’, or, ‘no it would be better for us all at Manchester United if you get the money for him and spend it elsewhere’.

“But they’re running out of time. Don’t forget, our window shuts on August 8 whereas in Europe it doesn’t – it’s daft. Once it shuts on August 8, it’s shut. January is a long way off and your position can be in jeopardy almost straight away if you pick up a couple of really serious injuries to your top players in your first month.”

Quicker the decision, the better

The biggest fear for United, or any side for that matter, is losing one of your star players right before the transfer window deadline and ultimately having no time to replace them. It brings about unnecessary and totally avoidable chaos and the consequences of such decision-making can be huge.

In keeping a hold of two reported want-away stars like Pogba and Lukaku, United are playing a very dangerous game. The duo – for all their criticisms – have been amongst the side’s most high-profile performers and losing either of them would be a huge blow. But, quite crucially, they are replaceable.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks, but have almost had their hands tied by the uncertainty over Pogba and Lukaku’s futures. Why spend big-money on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic when you already have Pogba? It is why Allardyce is right in urging the club to sort the mess out as soon as possible so that United can plan ahead, either with them or without them.

Manchester United fans were left excited by Dan James’ pre-season display

Manchester United fans were left delighted by the performance of new signing Dan James during Saturday’s friendly win against Perth Glory.

The summer arrival at Old Trafford was handed his first start in United colours since his move from Swansea City, playing the first 45 minutes against the Australians, showing glimpses of the pace and skill that could make him a Red Devils success.

Could Paul Pogba be on his way out of Old Trafford? 442oons have put their unqiue spin on the matter in the video below…

United scored two second half goals through Marcus Rashford and James Garner to secure a 2-0 victory as the club step up their preparations for a massive English Premier League season.

Their progress has been slow over the last few years but there’s hope that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can provide the catalyst to rebuild the side and get them back challenging for trophies on a consistent basis.

Signing young players like James looks to be a key part of that process and supporters think the 21-year-old could be the kind of pacey presence they badly need on the flanks.

Aston Villa fans love what they saw from Ezri Konsa against Minnesota

[ad_pod ]

Aston Villa began their preparations for the 2019-20 campaign with a 3-0 win over Minnesota United in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Jack Grealish, Henri Lansbury and Birkir Bjarnason scored the goals for Dean Smith’s side, who are building towards the start of the new season.

Ezri Konsa made his debut during the pre-season clash, with the 21-year-old playing the first 45 minutes in central defence.

Villa signed the England Under-21 international from Brentford earlier this month – paying £12m to take him from the Championship to the Premier League.

It is all about getting minutes in the legs at this stage of the preparations.

However, it would be fair to say that the Villa fans were pleased with what they saw from their new signing in just 45 minutes of football.

Some of the supporters have taken to social media to lavish praise on Konsa for his display against Minnesota and indeed in general as they look forward to a bright future.

Manchester United: Fans delighted after doctor who operated on Eric Bailly is revealed

Manchester United fans seem less than worried after it emerged just which doctor had operated on the crooked centre-back, Eric Bailly.

It was reported by Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez that famed doctor Ramon Cugat performed surgery on Bailly’s knee in Barcelona.

Alvarez reported that the Ivorian should be back in three months, despite manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s confirmation that he could be out for up to five months.

Bailly’s injury means Manchester United may only have three fit senior centre-halves, going into the new season.

The club are also no closer to reaching an agreement for Harry Maguire due to Leicester City’s refusal to budge on their £90m valuation of the defender.

Despite the bad news surrounding the Maguire’s potential move, the Old Trafford faithful seems to think Bailly will be back sooner rather than later.

Here is a selection of tweets following the report from Alvarez:

Liverpool have no way of knowing if Jurgen Klopp can trust target Fraser Forster

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

According to The Daily Mail, Southampton keeper Fraser Forster is a target for Liverpool, who have just six days left to get their business done before the deadline.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the Reds still have Simon Mignolet on their books as backup to No.1 glovesman Alisson Becker, although reports had previously surfaced suggesting that the Belgian wanted to leave in search of game time.

The former Sunderland stopper remains at the club for now, although The Daily Mail have reported that Forster is on their list of targets.

Sky Sports had revealed that the England international had been put up for sale by the Saints this summer, along with another England international and Liverpool target in Alex McCarthy, so one would assume a deal wouldn’t be too difficult to complete if the Merseysiders were seriously interested.

How can Jurgen Klopp trust Forster?

There comes a fair amount of ambiguity over a new signing even when they’ve been playing well for their previous employers, so you can only begin to think of how many question marks are looming over Forster given his recent history.

The former Celtic man has featured just once for Southampton competitively since a 5-2 defeat against Spurs on Boxing Day back in 2017, with his most recent appearance coming in a 3-0 loss to West Ham in the penultimate game of last season.

In that time, the 6 foot 7 stopper has slipped behind McCarthy and Angus Gunn in the pecking order, and he hasn’t even appeared in a cup game during his time on the sidelines.

Even some Southampton fans on Twitter don’t appear to be too fussed by the possibility of him leaving St Mary’s, judging by the way they reacted to Liverpool’s interest in him – one supporter described it as “a Southampton to Liverpool transfer I can get on board with.”

As a result of the 31-year-old’s severe lack of football over the last year-and-a-half, you could easily argue the fact that Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t have a clue what he’d be getting if he brought Forster to Anfield – it would almost be a complete stab in the dark, and there’s no way the German can trust the 31-year-old to step in when needed given his complete lack of football.

Leeds ‘keeper Kiko Casilla raises question marks over his temperament again

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

Where does one begin with Kiko Casilla? The goalkeeper’s arrival in Leeds last January from Real Madrid was one which should have created excitement.

After all, this was an experienced professional arriving from one of Europe’s top clubs.

However, his lack of game time, sitting behind players like Keylor Navas and Thibaut Courtois was obvious.

His temperament is extremely questionable and that has never been more evident than in the playoffs last season.

The Spaniard came out, tumbled with Liam Cooper and allowed a simple goal for Derby.

Casilla took flack for that display and it was hardly a great surprise. It wasn’t a shock to see him linked with a move away in the summer too.

Sevilla were reportedly knocking about but he eventually stayed at Elland Road.

Yet, with the departure of Bailey Peacock-Farrell this summer it presented an ideal opportunity for him to nail down the number one spot, even with the arrival of Illan Meslier.

Indeed Casilla had a rather straightforward start to the season but it was against Salford on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup where things almost went south once again.

In truth, his saves kept Leeds in the game and those moments were particularly important but it was a moment of madness that showed despite his qualities, he can always create a flash of panic.

With the game in its final ten minutes he raced out of his goal and missed everything from a free-kick before the ball was somehow scrambled away. Yet again it was shaky.

As seems tradition with Casilla, his positioning was all over the place and in a game that had a lot less riding on it than a Championship clash, it will come as a huge concern.

The 32-year-old simply makes too many errors and despite producing some clever saves, it offered a timely reminder to Marcelo Bielsa of why he cannot display full faith in him.

Meslier also has issues with his positioning but it may not be too long before we see the Frenchman earn a regular spot between the sticks instead.

Celtic fans react to Greg Taylor valuation

The Celtic fans are split over Kilmarnock’s reported £3m price tag for Greg Taylor, as Neil Lennon looks for a Kieran Tierney replacement before the end of the window.

Per The Daily Record, the Celts have been quoted a £3m asking price for Killie’s left-back- a figure that has got the supporters debating whether he’s worth such a fee or not.

The Parkhead club lost Tierney to Arsenal earlier this month, with his back-up Emilio Izaguirre also finding pastures new in Honduras. With only Boli Bolingoli coming in, Lennon is looking for another option for the left-hand side of his defence.

Despite Taylor being a full Scotland international and Killie regular, the move for Taylor and the fee have garnered a mixed reaction from the Hoops supporters. Some are happy to pay the money for a good player in a problem position, while others don’t think the 21-year-old is worth such an investment.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter to the left-back’s reported valuation:

Aston Villa fans laud Tyrone Mings after earning England call-up

[ad_pod ]

One of Aston Villa’s stars has been rewarded for his sublime form in 2019.

England manager Gareth Southgate has selected Tyrone Mings for their upcoming European 2020 Championship qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

The 6 foot 5 powerhouse was a catalyst in turning Villa’s fortunes around last season, having joined on loan in January, the club soon went on a run of ten straight victories which led the club into the playoffs.

Southgate spoke about Mings’ call-up on Thursday afternoon, he said:

“Tyrone’s an interesting case as he entered the game a bit later and hasn’t played as much as a centre-back.

“I really like his leadership qualities. He’s an outstanding athlete.”

The 26-year-old has since taken to Twitter to share his delight at the news.

Several of the Villa Park fanbase replied praising their popular centre-back.

One supporter said he would one day be the England captain whilst another added that it was fully deserved as he had been an ‘unreal professional’ since joining the club.

A further member of the Villa faithful claimed the defender had been nothing short of exceptional with one more telling him to go and prove his doubters wrong.

Manchester United fans react as Cameron Borthwick-Jackson makes loan exit

[ad_pod ]

Having broken into the Manchester United first-team in the 2015/2016 campaign under Louis van Gaal, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has failed to really kick on at Old Trafford.

The left-back finished the season with ten senior appearances across all competitions, and won the club’s U21 Player of the Year award too. His fine form earned him a new long-term contract with the club, but since then, it has all been downhill for the 22-year-old.

The former England U20 international has endured numerous loan spells at different clubs, and United have now confirmed Borthwick-Jackson will spend this season at League One side Tranmere Rovers.

After hearing the update on the defender, United fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter.

Many supporters of the Manchester side expressed their surprise at how Borthwick-Jackson’s career had fallen off, and pointed back to his days in the first-team.

Some Red Devils fans however, felt he could still do a decent job at left-back for the side, and questioned why they simply didn’t give him a chance to do so.
