يعتقد ريو فرديناند أسطورة مانشستر يونايتد، أن فريق مانشستر سيتي الحالي تحت قيادة بيب جوارديولا، سيخسر لو لعب أمام فريق مانشستر يونايتد تحت قيادة السير أليكس فيرجسون.

وقال فرديناند أثناء برنامج على قناة “بي تي سبورت”: “من الصعب اللعب ضد فريق يدربه بيب جوارديولا، أتذكر مواجهتي مانشستر يونايتد وبرشلونة، لقد دمرونا”.

The Sri Lanka coach Graham Ford has warned that the team needs to start producing cricketers capable of replacing the star names in the side otherwise they will struggle to compete at international level.Ford’s assessment comes in the wake of captain Mahela Jayawardene stating that he would reassess his future after the current tour of Australia. Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Thilan Samaraweera, who form the core of the team’s batting, are all in their mid-thirties and the team needs to guard against being hit by mass retirements.”What is really important for Sri Lanka cricket now is be aware that some of these players – superstars who have done great service to the game – are not going to be around for that much longer and an emerging player program of real intensity needs to be put in place urgently,” Ford said. “We need to start producing some more superstars and we need it to happen pretty quickly. That I see as a very important part, as to the future for Sri Lanka.”Ford praised the role played by the senior figures in the dressing room at setting an example for the younger players coming into the game. He has tried to instil the notion of personal responsibility within the team and believes he is starting to see the benefit of that approach coming through.”Some of them have done fantastically well and are very professional,” he said. “We also have a few young guys who have come in and who have quite a bit to learn. Our coaches need to be a little bit different from player to player. The example set by some of the senior players is fantastic for the younger guys coming through. If we can keep that going, in time it will become part of the cricketing culture in the dressing room.”I’ve really tried to introduce the adult approach in terms of players taking on the responsibility for their preparations and their performances. The coaching staff is always available to support them in whatever way they need, but they must make decisions about their cricket and how they are going to go about their business and for them to implement those decisions. I am really trying to get each individual to be as professional as possible.”Ford took over in controversial circumstances after Sri Lanka Cricket suddenly terminated the services of Geoff Marsh after just two tours to England and South Africa last year. He is thankful for the support given to him by Jayawardene, especially in helping to overcome some language barriers.”Initially the language barrier with a number of players was a challenge, fortunately with a great captain and some of the senior players who do speak English pretty well and, the coaches I managed to overcome a lot of those challenges. They’ve been great in helping along the way.”Under Ford, and in the post-Muralitharan era, Sri Lanka are still striving for consistency. Since the change of coach they have played three home Test series, drawing against England and New Zealand either side of beating Pakistan 1-0. Results in one-day cricket have been mixed and there was also the crushing disappointment of the World Twenty20 final defeat against West Indies.”I came in pretty suddenly and it all happened very quickly, so that was a challenge,” Ford reflected. “It has been very enjoyable, there has been some tough times and tough days but part of what is exciting is to witness the fight and character within the group along the way over the ten months. On a number of occasions the chips have been down, times have been tough and they’ve bounced back fantastically in one-day cricket and Test match cricket. It’s brilliant to be part of something like that.”We have achieved reasonably well. The triangular in Australia was encouraging, just disappointing we couldn’t win the final. Against England in the Test series, to win one against them when they were riding high as the No. 1 Test side was good but disappointing to let them level the series. It was a real opportunity to win a series against a top side. Against Pakistan, a very dangerous side, to win both Test and ODIs was a really good achievement.”We were disappointing in the ODIs against India and the whole nation was disappointed that we didn’t win the T20 World Cup. It was a very tough tournament, a lot of good teams, and to get as close as that, everybody dreams of winning it, not that we didn’t try, but we really did play some fantastic cricket and produce some wonderful results.”

Depois de um “ano de aprendizado”, chegou a hora de Ezequiel deslanchar. É isso que o próprio jovem do Botafogo tem em mente para provar o seu potencial em 2019.No Alvinegro? Emprestado à outra equipe? Em entrevista exclusiva ao LANCE!, o atacante de 20 anos não escondeu o seu desejo: ficar e ganhar mais espaço no elenco de Zé Ricardo, chamado de “pai” pelo jogador.

De acordo com a Rádio Tupi, o CSA, de Alagoas e recém-promovido à Série A do Brasileiro, é um clube que já sondou Ezequiel, que externou não ter chegado nada de concreto para ele. Quando questionado sobre uma possível saída em janeiro para ganhar rodagem, ele manifestou a preferência, mas também mostrou que seria flexível caso o Botafogo optasse por um empréstimo.

– Ainda estamos vendo as melhores situações. O meu desejo é ficar, e se for desejo do Botafogo, eu ficarei. Até porque, sou muito grato a essa torcida e a esse clube. É claro que vai rolar se for para uma situação melhor, de eu jogar, ganhar mais rodagem e os meus empresários também acharem vantajoso.

-Estou curtindo as férias. Deixei na mão dos meus empresários, que ficaram de me passar se chegasse algo. Mas, por enquanto, não tem nada – completou.

Nesta temporada, Ezequiel somou 22 partidas, sendo sete como titular. Não balançou as redes, como conseguiu uma vez em 2017, quando inaugurou no time de cima. O atleta definiu o ano de 2018 como válido pelo “aprendizado”.

– Vejo 2018 como um ano de aprendizado. Tivemos muitas trocas de treinadores, muitos esquemas diferentes, fui importante para mais treinadores do que para outros. Com o Valentim fui titular assim que ele chegou e, quando não, tive mais oportunidades (saindo do banco). Precisei passar por muitas coisas para amadurecer – analisou, completando sobre a relação com Zé:

– O Zé Ricardo é um pai, que não só os mais jovens têm, mas que os mais experientes também pensam assim. É um cara que abraça o seu problema, ele percebe, e você sente a liberdade de chegar e conversar com ele. Não tive muitas conversas em particular com o Zé, mas já falei com ele, e ele me disse para eu ficar tranquilo, jogar o meu futebol com alegria. Por eu não ter tido muitas oportunidades com o Zé Ricardo, alguns pensam que eu não gosto dele ou vice-versa. Nada disso. Eu o admiro muito, muito mesmo, independentemente das opções, eu não jogar tanto com ele faz parte, são escolhas. Eu sempre treino com alegria – salientou o cria da base alvinegra.

Para virar o ano em boa forma,Ezequiel disse que tem feito exercícios (praia, piscina, academia e caixa de areia, por exemplo), após sete dias reservas para “curtir e comer o que quiser”. Justo.

​Para a equipe, foi um ano de superação. Quando ninguém dava nada por nós, fomos lá no Carioca e conquistamos o título. Passamos por momentos de dificuldades no Brasileiro, mas conseguimos nos superar e dar a volta por cima neste fim do ano.

PROJEÇÕES PARA O 2019
​A gente embalou no Campeonato, pegamos a cara do Zé Ricardo, o ritmo dele e crescemos. Vamos brigar por coisas grandes em 2019, não só no Carioca, mas também na Sul-Americana, e fazer um Brasileiro bom, sem passar sufoco como esse ano. Como ele (Zé) vai iniciar o ano, creio que vamos ter bastante sucesso.

ADAPTAÇÃO NOS PROFISSIONAIS
Não digo que eu tenha temido (a ascensão aos profissionais). Confesso que havia um friozinho na barriga, por ser novidade, mas fiquei tranquilo quando vi que o grupo era tranquilo e muito família. Tirei de letra e me adaptei bem.

VALORIZAÇÃO DA BASE DO BOTAFOGO
Muitas bases são fortes. Em 2016, tivemos seis jogadores bem aproveitados dos campeões brasileiros (sub-20), se eu não me engano… Quando se trabalha com qualidade, chegamos ao profissional fresco e já sabendo o que tem que ser feito. O Botafogo é privilegiado nesse ponto.

O Palmeiras já anunciou cinco jogadores para 2019, mas a torcida aguarda ansiosamente pela confirmação da chegada de Ricardo Goulart. Em negociação avançada, o meia-atacante de 27 anos de idade deve ser emprestado por uma temporada pelo Guangzhou Evergrande (CHN). E atuando na China desde 2015, o provável reforço alviverde acumula ótimos números no período. De acordo com levantamento feito pelo Footstats, Goulart participou diretamente de praticamente um gol por jogo na Ásia: 154 jogos, com 104 gols e 47 assistências. Ou seja, 151 gols tiveram atuação decisiva do jogador, que fez sucesso com Luiz Felipe Scolari na China.

ELE FICA!

Willian Arão, em junho, quase deixou o Flamengo rumo à Grécia, mas o Olympiacos não apresentou as garantias financeiras ao meia e o negócio travou. Desde então, o jogador recuperou seu espaço no time, terminou a temporada como titular e terá seu contrato prorrogado por dois anos. A nova diretoria e o atleta conversaram e entraram em acordo na última semana. O atual vínculo de Arão com o Flamengo é válido até dezembro de 2019. Em janeiro, quando a gestão de Rodolfo Landim terá, de fato, o poder no clube, será assinada a prorrogação até o fim de 2021. EM BUSCA DE THIAGO NEVES

O meio-campo Thiago Neves, do Cruzeiro, talvez tenha sido o jogador que mais vezes teve seu nome envolvido em uma possível negociação neste fim de ano. Corinthians e Flamengo surgiram como possíveis interessados, mas é o Grêmio o clube que mais deseja tê-lo como reforço em 2019. O Tricolor Gaúcho, inclusive, já formalizou algumas propostas ao Cruzeiro, até incluindo o atacante Luan, um de seus principais jogadores, no negócio. Mas o time celeste faz jogo duro e exige R$ 8 milhões de reais para liberá-lo. A negociação ainda está em aberto e pode ter novidades a qualquer momento.

FRUSTRAÇÃO DO TIMÃO

Sonho do Corinthians para 2019, o atacante Diego Tardelli, atualmente sem clube após se desligar do Shandong Luneng (CHN), afirmou em seu perfil no Twitter que ainda não voltará ao Brasil – assim frustrando o desejo corintiano. A declaração ocorre três dias depois de o lateral-esquerdo André Santos postar uma foto ao lado de Diego Tardelli com a inscrição “Corinthians, será?”.

– Torcedores corintianos, só para deixar bem claro mais uma vez que eu tenho o maior respeito do mundo por esse clube. André Santos é meu amigo e nos encontramos no último domingo em casa. E nunca foi minha intenção “ficar de brincadeirinhas”, até mesmo porque a minha vontade ainda é permanecer fora do Brasil. Sigo curtindo meu momento, minhas férias e minha família – escreveu o atacante.

LATERAL-DIREITO PERMANECE

A história entre Fluminense e Gilberto deve ter um final feliz. As tratativas entre o clube e o jogador estão avançadas e o lateral, de 25 anos, deve confirmar a permanência no Tricolor. A informação foi dada inicialmente pelo “Globoesporte” e confirmada pelo LANCE!.

A renovação com o lateral era uma das prioridades do Flu atualmente. Ele chegou a receber outras propostas formais, mas a prioridade era o clube das Laranjeiras. A parte difícil na negociação era acertar os termos com a Fiorentina (ITA). Desta vez, o passe de Gilberto está fixado. O lateral foi um dos destaques do Fluminense na temporada, mas sofreu um edema ósseo no joelho direito em agosto e só voltará a jogar em 2019. O camisa 2 disputou 36 partidas e marcou seis gols.

REFORÇO NA GÁVEA

O departamento de futebol do Flamengo acaba de ganhar um novo nome: Paulo Roberto Pelaipe. A gestão do presidente Rodolfo Landim anunciou o executivo como gerente de futebol nesta quarta-feira, dando sequência à reestruturação da pasta prometida durante a campanha. Pelaipe retorna à Gávea quatro anos e sete meses após deixar o cargo de diretor executivo.

O atacante Gabriel Barbosa, o Gabigol, foi flagrado conversando com o vice-presidente de futebol do Flamengo, Marcos Braz, o que evidencia o forte interesse do clube rubro-negro no jogador para a próxima temporada. Chegou ao fim a passagem de Marcelo Grohe no Grêmio. Na tarde desta quinta-feira, a diretoria do Tricolor aceitou a proposta do Al Ittihad, da Arábia Saudita. De acordo com informações do Uol Esporte, a oferta do clube árabe era de US$ 3 milhões (cerca de RS 11 milhões). Como o Grêmio é dono de 100% dos direitos federativos do jogador, fica com toda a quantia.

Com a saída de Grohe, o Tricolor inicia a temporada com apenas Paulo Victor na posição. Nesta semana, Bruno Grassi, terceiro goleiro, foi liberado para atuar no Criciúma. Revelado pelo clube gaúcho, Marcelo Grohe foi um dos principais líderes do elenco e um dos destaques na conquista da Libertadores 2017 e Recopa Sul-Americana 2018. Antes dele, Cícero e Ramiro optaram por sair do time comandado por Renato Gaúcho.

RECUSOU A RENOVAÇÃO

Luka Modric foi um dos grandes nomes da temporada passada. O jogador foi eleito o melhor jogador do mundo pela Fifa, conquistou a Bola de Ouro e foi um dos líderes da Croácia na Copa do Mundo. Com tanta relevância, o Real Madrid quer renovar o contrato do atleta. Segundo a ‘Telemadrid’, porém, o meia recusou a primeira oferta dos Merengues.

De acordo com a rede de televisão espanhola, Modric está esperando uma oferta melhor do Real Madrid para, então, definir seu futuro. Com o status elevado, o mercado italiano olha para Modric com mais atenção, principalmente a Internazionale.

NOVO DESTINO

Em processo de reformulação do elenco, o Grêmio terá o volante Rômulo como reforço para a temporada 2019. Apesar da não confirmação do Tricolor, o técnico Renato Gaúcho garantiu que o jogador do Flamengo vai atuar em Porto Alegre a partir do ano que vem.

– Ele vai passar antes pelos exames médicos. Sem dúvida alguma, vai ser jogador do Grêmio. Tem muitos jogadores que não são aproveitados em um clube e que vão ser em outros – afirmou o comandante no Jogo das Estrelas.

IMPASSE…

Após ser aprovado em exames médicos no Corinthians na semana passada, o meia equatoriano Sornoza ainda não teve sua contratação confirmada. O anúncio, porém, deve ocorrer nos próximos dias.

Um impasse envolvendo o Independiente del Valle e o Fluminense, ex-clubes do jogador, atrasou a finalização da negociação. O clube equatoriano cobra uma dívida dos cariocas, que não terminaram de pagar a compra de Sornoza realizada no fim de 2016.

O Cruzeiro tem sido um dos clubes brasileiros mais assediados nesta janela de transferências. Além do Grêmio no desejo de Thiago Neves, o Flamengo voltou à carga para ter o zagueiro Dedé. O vice-presidente de futebol do Cruzeiro, Itair Machado, revelou que duas semanas atrás recebeu nova proposta por Dedé, mas novamente recusada pelo clube celeste.

– Essa situação do Flamengo tem mais de 15 dias. Ela vazou de novo porque o Abel Braga falou sobre o Dedé. Mas o Cruzeiro já deixou claro que não vende o jogador- disse Itair Machado.

O Atlético-MG confirmou a contratação do seu segundo reforço para a temporada 2019. O Lateral-direito Guga, ex-Avaí, agora é jogador do Galo. Claudio Rodrigues Gomes, o Guga, apelido que ganhou em referência ao tenista Gustavo Kuerten, torcedor do Avaí, pela semelhança de estilo de cabelo.

Guga se destacou em 2018 defendendo o Avaí, foi eleito atleta revelação do Campeonato Catarinense. Além do novo reforço, o Galo conta com o retorno do capitão Réver, que foi campeão com o clube mineiro pela Libertadores, em 2013.

VAI PARA COLINA

O Vasco vai se reforçando também para o ataque. O centroavante Ribamar, que foi treinado por Alberto Valentim no Pyramidis, do Egito, está sendo contratado por empréstimo de dois anos. Aos 21 anos, ele estava no Ohod, da Arábia Saudita, clube do mesmo dono da equipe africana. O atacante já foi anunciado como novo reforço do time.

A permanência do único jogador do atual campeão brasileiro que fica sem contrato neste mês está próxima de ser confirmada. O Palmeiras encaminhou a compra de Marcos Rocha, lateral-direito emprestado pelo Atlético-MG até segunda-feira, por R$ 8 milhões. Segundo a apuração do LANCE!.

Marcos Rocha foi emprestado com seus direitos econômicos fixados em 2 milhões de euros (quase R$ 9 milhões), e a negociação tende a ser fechada por um valor próximo ao que foi estabelecido. O Palmeiras deve adquirir o lateral-direito, de 30 anos de idade, por R$ 8 milhões e acertar um contrato mais longo com ele, como pediu Felipão.

Chittagong responds to BPL The arrival of the League in Bangladesh’s second-largest city completely changed the complexion of the Twenty20 tournament. The first match at the venue, between the home side (Chittagong Kings) and Sylhet Royals, was played in front of a packed house and nearly all matches over the next five days saw full houses. The chief reason is the central location of the MA Aziz Stadium, which is seeing some cricketing action after hosting football for most of the last eight years. International cricket is played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the western corner of Chittagong. Though certain roads leading up to the venue were cordoned off, the spectators lined up two hours before the game. There were also rumours of slashed ticket prices, which attracted a sizeable amount of students from nearby educational institutions. On the final day, when the Kings took on Dhaka Gladiators, there was barely any room to stand in the general galleries.Tamim Iqbal, who lives just across the street from the stadium, alsoentertained on a couple of nights, once trying to hit one into his house, though it ended up being a six over deep midwicket.Kings still struggleThe Kings, however, didn’t warm up to the BPL even in the second week. In their first home game, they went down to Sylhet and then lost to Barisal Burners. Captaincy changed hands for the next two games with Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor replacing Mahmudullah, who wasn’t enjoying the role and had apparently given it away.Big-ticket T20 players like Ravi Bopara, Jacob Oram and Shaun Tait didn’t quite contribute, and neither did most of the local players. The squad looks thin in specialist T20 batsmen, while the left-arm spinners haven’t done a particularly good job of bowling to the fields they set.Most of the headlines they have made in the BPL this season have been due to Brian Lara, their brand ambassador, who has participated in several events to keep the marketing wheel rolling.The Zimbabwean connectionBrendan Taylor isn’t the only Zimbabwean player to be contributing to his side. The rest of his compatriots have also been chipping in with the bat.Elton Chigumbura saw the Sylhet Royals through a tight finish, while Charles Coventry won a game for Duronto Rajshahi with a 25-ball 62, possibly the most breathtaking innings in the tournament till date. Sean Ervine has also kept Rajshahi’s hopes alive by batting at a strike rate of 140 but his bowling hasn’t been up to the mark.Hamilton Masakadza’s batting tapered off slightly after an impressive show in the first few games, but it has been a tournament which would encourage BPL team selectors to keep an eye on more Zimbabwean players, with their local knowledge.Nasir’s tricksThe Rangpur Riders were losing their way in a chase against the home side, Khulna Royal Bengals. But Nasir Hossain, in spectacular form, had other ideas as he led the Khulna chase of 151. Against Afghan left-arm bowler Shapoor Zadran, who was bowling around the wicket, Nasir became a left-hander, then took a front-on stance before settling as a right-hander and smashing the flustered bowler back over his head.He tried the trick a few times but it wasn’t successful and his inability to take strike in the final over didn’t help matters either. Nasir’s excellent 2012-13 season continues into the BPL and much of Riders’ success would depend on him.

منتخب مصر يلاقي غينيا، خلال شهر يونيو المقبل في إطار الجولة الخامسة من منافسات المجموعة الرابعة للتصفيات الإفريقية.

وقال أمادو خلال تصريحات عبر برنامج “كورة كل يوم” المذاع علي قناة الحياة: “نحن نعمل على برنامج عمل وتحدثنا مع وزير الشباب والاتحاد الغيني، لا يمكن أن نستضيف مباريات في غينيا بسبب مشاكل الاستادات، ونختار بلد أخر لكي نلعب مباراة العودة واخترنا المغرب لاستضافة هذه المباراة أمام منتخب مصر”.

وكان مصدر بـ منتخب مصر أوضح عبر بطولات ملعب مراكش في المغرب سوف يستضيف مباراة غينيا ومصر في يونيو.

وتابع: “الموسم في أوروبا لمعظم اللاعبين الغينين ينتهى في بداية يونيو، وبالتالي قلنا يمكن أن نبدأ معسكرنا لمدة أسبوع ونلعب المباراة يوم 14 يونيو، وتم الاتفاق مع البرازيل لخوض مباراة ودية يوم 17، نعرف ان الأهلي سيلعب يوم 11 أي قبل ثلاثة أيام من مباراة مصر وغينيا”.

وواصل: “القواعد تقول لا بد أن يكون هناك ثلاثة أيام بين كل مباراة دولية على الأقل، وبالتالي وجدنا أن ثلاثة أيام فاصلة بين النهائي، ومصر لديها لاعبين آخرين وكثيرين من الممكن أن يشاركوا”.

وأتم: “أفضل طريقة للتعامل مع هذه المشكلة أن نواجه مصر يوم 14 يونيو ثم منتخب البرازيل يوم 17 من نفس الشهر”.

A temporada de 2019 começou para o Flamengo com uma vitória, nos pênaltis, sobre o Ajax: 4 a 3 após a igualdade em 2 a 2 no tempo regulamentar. Mais do que o resultado pode ser comemorado por ter sido conquistado diante de um rival que está em ritmo de temporada.

O teste, válido pela Florida Cup, serviu para Abel Braga dar chance a quase todos do grupo e teve como destaque dois atletas: o atacante Uribe, que fez os dois gols do Flamengo, e o goleiro Diego Alves, que pegou muito na partida.

Pelo empate no tempo regulamentar e a vitória nos pênaltis, o Flamengo conquistou dois pontos. O time de Abel Braga volta a campo no sábado. O duelo, no Orlando City Stadium, será contra o Eintracht Frankfurt, às 19h.

Com a bola no chão, Ajax chega aos gols

A expectativa por um bom futebol era maior em cima do Ajax, uma vez que o time holandês está em pleno ritmo de jogo no meio da temporada europeia. Sem força máxima, no entanto, o time comandado por Erik Ten Hag enfrentou o melhor Flamengo que Abel Braga dispunha e a primeira etapa foi equilibrada.

O time da Gávea não ficou devendo na parte física. Contudo, alguns erros de passes simples e erros de posicionamento, deixando o ataque em posição de impedimento, deixavam claro que a equipe está em início de pré-temporada.

Neste cenário, quando o Ajax colocou a bola no chão e trocou passes, levou perigo à meta de Diego Alves – único jogador do Fla que iniciou e terminou a partida. Foi pelo lado esquerdo, nas costas de Pará e Léo Duarte, que o time holandês encontrou mais espaços. Foi por ali que Cerny tabelou, invadiu a área e cruzou para o centroavante Huntelaar abrir o placar no Orlando City Stadium.

Depois de Uribe aproveitar ótima assistência de Everton Ribeiro e encobrir o baixinho Lamprou – o goleiro grego mede 1,76m -, os holandeses voltaram a ficar na frente do placar comLabyad, após ótima troca de passes na entrada da área, deixando a defesa do Fla perdida no lance. Diego Alves nada pôde fazer.

Uribe começa o ano em alta

Uribe, outra vez, apareceu bem para empatar a partida pela segunda vez. Diego finalizou de fora da área, Lamprou soltou e o camisa 20, como centroavante, só teve o trabalho de empurrar para o fundo do gol. Ótimo início para o atacante, que terá a concorrência de Gabigol, Henrique Dourado e Lincoln na temporada.

Abelão mexe, Fla sofre, mas segura empate

Como esperado, o técnico Abel Braga fez várias mudanças e usou a etapa final para rodar o grupo, fazer testes e, por exemplo, promover a estreia de Rodrigo Caio no Flamengo. Assim, diante de um rival ainda mais desentrosado, o Ajax dominou amplamente o segundo tempo. Foram várias chances de gol criadas.

Todos os jogadores de linha que começaram a partida foram substituídos por Abelão. A exceção ficou por conta do goleiro Diego Alves, que justificou com uma grande atuação individual. Foram, ao menos, quatro defesas importantes do camisa 1 – que teve a permanência no time da Gávea ameaçada na virada do ano -, em finalizações deEkkelenkamp,Labyad, Cerny eKristensen no duelo.

Nos pênaltis, Rubro-Negro leva a melhor

Labyad fez para o Ajax. Piris da Motta deslocou o goleiro e empatou. Traoré viu Diego Alves tocar na bola, mas converteu a cobrança. Seguro, Rodinei fez 2 a 2. De Wit fixou o olhar na bola e marcou. Na sequência, Trauco voltou a deixar o placar da disputa em igualdade. Até ali, 100% de aproveitamento nas batidas.

Contra Veltman, Diego Alves acertou o lado, mas a bola explodiu na trave e saiu. Assim, coube a Berrío colocar o Flamengo na frente. Por fim, o zagueiro Magallan bateu mal, isolou a bola e garantiu a vitória rubro-negra em Orlando.

A fascinating Test in Cape Town provided its third day of unexpected twists as the man who was the weak link for South Africa on the first day made amends with his first Test half-century in almost a decade to even up the contest. Robin Peterson hadn’t been able to stem the runs when Pakistan were batting on the second day, but on the third it was Pakistan who couldn’t stop the runs when Peterson was batting. With AB de Villiers also scoring a half-century, South Africa showed their resilience as what could have been a game-deciding lead for Pakistan was trimmed to just 12.In their second innings, Pakistan’s top order once again folded cheaply and South Africa were threatening to run away with the game. However, they were thwarted by a patient partnership between Azhar Ali and Misbah-ul-Haq in the final hour-and-a-half before stumps to leave the match evenly poised. The day ended with a bit of bad news for the hosts, as Morne Morkel sustained a leg injury. He is unlikely to bowl again in this Test.In the morning, de Villiers had survived another intense examination from the outstanding Saeed Ajmal to play an innings that married classical drives and cuts with chutzpah, as shown by an inventive dink over the slips for four when the ball was banged in short. He reached his half-century off a rare poor ball down the leg side from Ajmal, and if he was beginning to feel comfortable in the middle, Ajmal followed up with a ripping delivery similar to the one that accounted for Faf du Plessis. De Villiers got the edge again but the keeper couldn’t hold on to the catch.Ajmal had begun the day by adding Dean Elgar’s wicket to make it six out of six and briefly raised visions of him joining the elite club of Jim Laker and Anil Kumble as the only bowlers to take all ten wickets in an innings. Thoughts of that spectacular feat came to an end when the seven-footer Mohammad Irfan struck with the new ball to dismiss de Villiers for his first Test wicket. He then showed that even in the intense battle of Test cricket there is space for levity, as the towering fast bowler raised his arms in celebration after his team-mates huddled around him, forcing them to jump to high-five him.Pakistan could have taken total control of the match once de Villiers was dismissed but Peterson again showed how much his batting has improved. He swept Ajmal when the ball was on the pads, cut powerfully when width was provided, and generally began to look more and more settled in the middle. With the help of Vernon Philander, he brought the deficit below 100 before lunch.Peterson had just begun, though, and opened out after the break with a series of drives as 77 runs came off 13 overs. Besides the scorching drives, there was even a switch-hit off Ajmal. As the score went past 300, Peterson set his sights on a maiden hundred, going for his shots even as he lost his partners. The crowd loved it, and when last man Morne Morkel solidly defended a few deliveries, the fans welcomed it with rousing cheers. Peterson finally perished on 84 as he looked to clear long-on, though he had already done enough to hurt Pakistan by then.The turnaround continued when South Africa had the ball in hand as, yet again, they removed both openers cheaply. Pakistan’s opening stands this series now read 0, 10, 7 and 9. Steyn struck in his first over, with an indipper that had Mohammad Hafeez lbw. Philander joined in with a wicket in his first over, sending back Nasir Jamshed lbw for a duck. Though South Africa’s quicks kept asking questions around off stump, Younis Khan and Ali negotiated the new ball till tea. A pumped-up Steyn then delivered the quickest spell of the match, regularly threatening to hit the 150kph mark, and it culminated with him getting Younis to chop on to the stumps.While the second session was full of runs, the third was the opposite. Ali began with a boundary past square leg that took him to 23 off 23 balls, but he then went into a shell, especially against Peterson, playing out maiden after maiden. He couldn’t work the singles, at one stage had managed only five runs off 53 deliveries against Peterson, and just survived a confident lbw appeal.At the other end, Misbah wasn’t in any hurry either, and the pair went through 34 scoreless deliveries early on in their partnership. Misbah was patient as ever, except when he pulled off three of those out-of-the-blue straight sixes he loves to hit.Many times, the strategy to just block everything against a high-quality attack doesn’t work because the lack of runs means the pressure isn’t lifted, and when there is a breakthrough, the batting side hasn’t made much progress. It worked for Pakistan on the day, though, as it sucked the momentum from a rampant South Africa attack, and steadily increased the lead above 100, setting up an intriguing fourth day.
