Lots of Everton fans have been lauding another impressive display from Lewis Dobbin in pre-season.

As per the club’s official website, the striker scored another hat-trick in a friendly game for the under-23s against non-league Chorley Town, his third treble in pre-season.

The final score was 3-1 to the Toffees as Dobbin’s goals ended up being crucial to victory.

The 18-year-old has been a big success at youth level for Everton throughout his footballing career, scoring 14 goals and supplying a further 11 assists in 39 matches across the last three seasons (Transfermarkt).

Considering his fine form, some Blues supporters feel as if he should be given a chance to impress in the first team under Rafa Benitez.

After executing two breathtaking reverse-sweep sixes during his match-winning unbeaten 110 against New Zealand in the first one-dayer in Chester-le-Street, Kevin Pietersen has strongly rejected the notion that such innovative strokes should be outlawed in cricket.Pietersen took on Scott Styris on both occasions, switching his grip to that of a left-hander and pre-meditating the stroke even before the ball was delivered. The first, in the 39th over, landed over deep backward point and the second, in the 43rd, was deposited over long-off. Though the reverse-sweep has been in existence for decades now, Pietersen has taken it to greater heights, after first unveiling the reverse-sweep six in 2006, off Muttiah Muralitharan in a Test at Edgbaston.Pietersen’s strokes were different from the conventional reverse-sweep because he changed his grip the bowler delivered, effectively making him a left-handed batsman. Since a bowler isn’t allowed to change his bowling hand without informing the umpire, some have suggested that the same should apply to the batsmen. Pietersen however disagreed and urged everyone to embrace innovation positively.”That’s ridiculous,” Pietersen said after England’s comprehensive 114-run win. “Absolutely stupid. The reverse-sweep has been part of the game for however long. I am just fortunate that I am able to hit it a bit further.”Everybody wants brand new ideas, new inventions and new shots. That is a new shot played today and people should be saying it’s a new way to go. The boundary was miles out on the leg side so I thought the other boundary was the way forward. There was only one man out there and there are normally three out on the leg side.”I covered my eyes as soon as he turned his body around,” Collingwood said. “I was quite surprised and I went ‘Oh no’ but he smashed it. In fact he smashed it twice. He did actually come up the wicket and say ‘I was thinking about that in bed last night,’ so at least we know the visualisation was there.”The opposing captain, Daniel Vettori, however, suggested that bowlers should get some respite in such instances and be able to fire deliveries past the pads without it being called a wide. “To even it up, bowlers should be able to bowl down both sides of the wide line,” Vettori said. “Then it brings your skill into play.”

Sabemos que o clube não tem meios financeiros de trazer grandes jogadores e se vira como pode com nomes em fim de contrato e outros encostados em empréstimo… A base poderia ser um luz? Até poderia, mas não vamos esquecer que base e profissional são totalmente diferentes e se não souber utilizar e lapidar o jovem pode queimá-lo precipitadamente;

Temos um trabalho no começo com Milton Mendes, um padrão tático mais visível ao seu antecessor e também teremos três semanas para arrumar a casinha, correr atrás de reforços pontuais e quando digo pontuais são aqueles que vão chegar e vestir a camisa. E não aqueles que procuram se tratar primeiro e depois jogar;

Tudo dependerá desses dois semestres ao Vasco. O ano do clube será definido nesses últimos meses e não podem acontecer imprevistos. É coração na ponta da chuteira, além de utilizar por meios de marketing pra chamar a torcida para perto. Pois em São Januário teremos que ser fortes e buscarmos sempre os três pontos.

وتقرر أن تغادر بعثة نادي بيراميدز فجر الأحد، القاهرة في طريقها إلى مدينة جدة، على أن تخوض اللقاء الودي المهم في اليوم التالي بملعب نادي الاتحاد.

علق أمير عزمي مجاهد مدرب الزمالك السابق، على انضمام مهند لاشين لنادي فيوتشر، مشيرًا إلى أنه لا يعتقد أن الزمالك سينسحب من بطولة الدوري المصري.

وقال أمير عزمي في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر فضائية ” ETC: “لا أعتقد أن الزمالك سينسحب من بطولة الدوري، وأرى أن تراكم مؤجلات الأهلي سيمثل ضغط على الأحمر، في حالة خوض الأبيض مبارياته بشكل طبيعي”.

وتابع: “ليس هناك تكافؤ فرص في الدوري، هناك بعض الأندية تخوض مباراتين في مدة زمنية، وأندية تلعب 4 مباريات”.

وعن انضمام مهند لاشين إلى فيوتشر، قال: “”مهند لاشين إضافة قوية لفريق فيوتشر في وسط الملعب”.

وأكمل: “أندية الشركات لديها قوة مالية، وهذا أمر واقع متواجد حاليًا، والأندية الجماهيرية ستتعرض للظلم”.

وتطرق للحديث عن طارق حامد، قائلا: “لاعب محترف، وأتمنى تواجده في الزمالك، تواصلت معه من أجل الاطمئنان عليه في إسبانيا، وأبلغنى أنه سيعود إلى القاهرة بعد أيام قليلة”.

Crystal Palace have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah after fellow Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion joined the race for his signature.

What’s the story?

The Eagles have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old hitman throughout the summer, but Graham Potters charges have now reportedly placed him at the top of their wishlist.

According to The Sun, Brighton plan to snatch Nketiah away from Arsenal in order to provide the attacking prowess that was so desperately missing from their side last season.

The report claims that the Seagulls are hoping to land the former England Under-21 international in a £20 million over the coming weeks, meaning Palace may be priced out of a move, with the club’s hierarchy reluctant to get into an auction for the striker.

Patrick Vieira will be gutted

Despite being limited to just four Premier League starts throughout 2020/21, Nketiah still managed to impress Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta with his performances.

“I want him to keep doing what he’s doing. The way he played last night against those players, in those difficult conditions, for me is extraordinary at his age,” claimed Arteta after he caught the eye against Manchester City.

“He has an immense personality to play, confidence, he’s powerful and is developing in every area, I think. I have a lot of faith in him.”

In 65 appearances for his boyhood club, Nketiah has bagged 13 goals, providing a single assist for his teammates, a respectable tally considering a large number of his outings have come via cameos off the bench.

However, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette above him in the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, the youngster is expected to see pastures new this summer.

Palace are currently overhauling their first-team squad following the arrival of Vieira, and have already brought in several young, exciting acquisitions.

However, it now appears unlikely that Nketiah will be the next promising addition to the south London outfit’s ranks, leaving the French tactician feeling gutted.

The Eagles look set to miss out on Blackburn Rovers hitman Adam Armstrong following Southampton’s successful bid, meaning Vieira may be forced to move onto his third-choice striker in his quest to add more goals to this Palace side.

1918 Alec Bedser is born on July 14, seven minutes after brother Eric. His mother is unaware she is carrying twins.1938 Spotted in the nets at Woking CC, the twins accept an offer to join the Surrey staff as professionals, earning £2 a week in the summer and £1 in the winter.1939 Bedser makes his Surrey debut, alongside his brother, playing two matches against the universities without taking a wicket. They are part of the Surrey 2nd XI that wins the Minor Counties Championship.1943 On leave from the RAF, Bedser attracts attention as he takes 6 for 27, including a hat-trick, against a West Indies XI at Lord’s. But the brothers are posted abroad at the end of the year, curtailing any chances of playing more.1946 In his first full season, Bedser takes 128 wickets at 20.13. He makes his Test debut against India in his 13th first-class game, taking 7 for 49 and 4 for 96 at Lord’s.1946-47 He struggles in Australia, taking 16 wickets at 54.75 as England are well beaten. 1952 A poor Indian side are swept away, Bedser adding 20 more cheap wickets to his tally. Surrey, under Stuart Surridge, win the first of their seven consecutive Championship titles.1953 Bedser’s annus mirabilis: he breaks the record for most wickets in an Anglo-Australian series, his 39 at 17.48 a major part in England regaining the Ashes for the first time in 19 years. “If I had have broken down then [Hutton] would have been lost,” Bedser recalled with no false modesty. “There was no one else.” In the first Test at Nottingham he passes SF Barnes’ English record of 189 Test wickets; at Headingley he becomes the leading wicket-taker of all time, passing Clarrie Grimmett’s 216. He finishes the summer with 162 wickets at 16.67, his best return and in his benefit year.1954-55 His third tour of Australia is wrecked as he contracts shingles – which is not diagnosed until after the first Test where he takes 1 for 131. James Hildreth (47) and Wes Durston (42) repaired the damage with a stand of 82, but Liam Dawson took two key wickets and Hampshire kept control at the death.Lancashire suffered their third washout of the season as they shared the points with Middlesex at Old Trafford. There were just occasional showers during the afternoon, but the heavy overnight rain had left the outfield saturated. This was the final match of the season at Old Trafford as the outfield is now being dug up and relayed while Lancashire finish 2008 at outgrounds. At least the early call-off allowed everyone the chance to watch Manchester United take on Newcastle a few hundreds up the road.

Division TwoStewart Walters fell nine runs short of a maiden one-day century, but his 91put Surrey on course for a welcome victory as they beat Northamptonshire by 63 runs at The Oval. Surrey produced a display of attacking batting, led off by James Benning’s 46-ball 55 as he and Walters added 89 for the second wicket. Walters then held the innings together as the middle order all chipped in. He hit 10 fours and two sixes before being bowled by Jason Brown with his century in sight. Northamptonshire suffered a horror start as they sank to 7 for 3 in the third over, but they didn’t give up without a fight. Rikki Wessels struck his first limited-overs century, an even 100 off 86 balls, adding 107 with David Sales for the fourth wicket. But no one else could stay with him and he became a first wicket for Robert Frylinck, a 23-year-old South African Kolpak making his debut.
