Atacante do Fluminense projeta clássico contra o Vasco: 'Será difícil'

O time do Criciúma complicou bastante, principalmente no primeiro tempo. No segundo, o time desenvolveu melhor e conseguimos fazer os gols.

Portsmouth handed Robertson boost

A major update has emerged on Clark Robertson’s transfer plans which could be good news for Portsmouth’s pursuit of the defender.

What’s the talk?

According to The Daily Record, Rotherham centre-back Clark Robertson looks set to stay in England this summer despite interest from Aberdeen. The Scottish Premiership side attempted to bring him to the club, but the report claims that he wants to remain in England, with his contract at Rotherham expiring at the end of the month.

Portsmouth are said to have made an offer to the centre-back too, although it remains to be seen if they are the club Robertson wants to join. Danny Cowley has identified the defender as a target to bolster his squad ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Back in 2018, Rotherham boss Paul Warne labeled Robertson as a “strong” defender with a competitive edge. He told Rotherham’s official website:

“He’s a really good kid and he really wants to learn. He played a lot of games last year and the couple before that and I think he’ll fit in a treat. He can step in and play out from the back, which the league we’re going into will allow a little bit more and he’ll bring us a bit of calmness.

“I’ve known him for quite a while and he’s a left-sider, which is pretty unique. He can play and he was a huge part of the Blackpool team last year. He’s a good, strong, competitive centre half which fits in with what we’re looking for here.”

Cowley would love him

Cowley would love Robertson at Portsmouth. He is an experienced performer at Championship and League One level and could slot in seamlessly at Fratton Park, as he already knows how to handle getting promoted out of the third tier having done so with Rotherham.

Robertson could be a low-risk addition to Cowley’s side as he would not be coming in from a lower English division or a foreign team, thus needing time to adapt to the nature of League One.

Portsmouth are set due to lose Tom Naylor at the end of the month. The centre-back has signed a contract with Wigan and will join the Latics officially upon the expiry of his Portsmouth deal on June 30th. Naylor will leave a giant hole to fill in Cowley’s side, as he started all 46 of the club’s League One matches and averaged an impressive WhoScored rating of 6.99. This is where Robertson could come in to replace Naylor in the squad.

The £3.4k-per-week ace averaged a solid WhoScored rating of 6.86 when starting as a centre-back in the Championship for Rotherham last season. This suggests that he should be able to perform to a higher standard in League One as it is a lower standard of football in comparison to the Championship. Therefore, he could match – or even better – the performances of Naylor for Pompey in the 2020/21 campaign.

Cowley should love this update about the player wanting to stay in England as it increases his side’s chances of being able to sign an ideal replacement for the departing Naylor.

Catarinense: Avaí e Chape fazem clássico valendo a liderança

Provável Chapecoense: Elias; Zeballos (Diego Renan), Grolli, Fabrício Bruno e Reinaldo; Amaral, Andrei Girotto e Nenén; Osman, Rossi e Wellington Paulista.

Man Utd may sell Anthony Martial

Manchester United could use Anthony Martial as a makeweight in order to secure Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane.

What’s the story?

United have reportedly seen an opening £50m bid for the World Cup-winning defender turned down and now could look for more inventive ways to secure their transfer target.

Duncan Castles recently claimed that Martial’s agent had offered his client to Madrid as he searches for a new club, and he could now be used in a part player part cash deal, according to The Express.

Fans will be buzzing

The French forward had a poor campaign last term, scoring just seven goals in all competitions for the Red Devils.

His underwhelming displays appear to have seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lose faith in the 25-year-old, with Martial being made available for transfer.

“Anthony Martial is to be sacrificed should they get this new forward in. Solskjaer is tired of his attitude and hasn’t been impressed with his goal production and general knitting into the team this season,” Castles revealed on the Transfer Window podcast.

“He has been offered to Real Madrid as an option for them in attack. He is being offered as a high-value season loan with an option to buy. Martial’s agent is trying to find him another destination this summer.”

With United desperate to capture Varane this summer, the club’s hierarchy could use the unwanted striker to secure one of their top targets.

Madrid are reportedly holding out for an £80m offer for the 28-year-old, despite the former Lens ace only having 12 months left to run on his current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Therefore, using Martial as a makeweight is likely to be a popular tactic amongst the club’s supporters.

The former Monaco attacker has failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford, struggling for consistency and often appearing to lack the required work rate needed to succeed at the highest level.

Former Chelsea winger Damien Duff once labeled Martial as “lazy” and it’s a criticism that is often thrown at the forward.

As a result, news that United could be swapping Varane for Martial will surely have the fans buzzing. He could be the perfect partner for Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence and form the base of Solskjaer’s side for many years to come.

Rain, Inzamam come to Pakistan's rescue

LAHORE-The rain, overnight and intermittent through the day came to Pakistan’s rescue, and with the weatherman forecasting more showers between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, it might end up saving Pakistan from the humiliation of defeat in

Agha Akbar09-Mar-2002LAHORE-The rain, overnight and intermittent through the day came to Pakistan’s rescue, and with the weatherman forecasting more showers between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, it might end up saving Pakistan from the humiliation of defeat in this second final of the Asian Test Championship. Other than rain, only Inzamam-ul-Haq (unbeaten 72, 209 balls, 268 minutes, 3 fours), and to a lesser extent Shoaib Malik (19 not out, 125 balls, 151 minutes, two fours) and Rashid Latif to come, stand between Sri Lanka and victory. At close on the fourth day, Pakistan had made 248, adding only 55 to their overnight 193, and now they are adrift by just 46 runs from the massive deficit of the first innings, but more crucially without losing a wicket, to go into the last day hoping for more of the same.Rock-solid, Inzamam didn’t offer the Lankans a ghost of a chance in his resolute stay on the wicket. At the end of the day, the question on many a lip was whether Pakistan can escape. This is now very much a possibility, albeit a remote one. If the duo continues in the same cautious vein, especially Inzamam, Pakistan may have an outside chance of saving this game. But if they do, it would be one of their more famous escapes.Pakistan needed this huge slice of luck through weather (323 minutes of play lost) and some application by the batsmen, to survive after a thoroughly inept batting display by the top order in both innings. At stumps on the third day, they had been still 101 shy of the overall deficit of 294. And with six sessions to go, and save only one recognised batsman in Inzamam unbeaten, without weather having mercy at them they really had very little chance of braving the trial by Muttiah Muralitharan and the three seamers, Chaminda Vaas, Buddhika Fernando and Nuwan Zoysa. The play was possible in only three brief spells of 11, 35 and 70 minutes in the pre-, post-lunch and after-tea sessions, with a total of 31.5 overs possible out of a regulation 90. On an otherwise grim day, the only bright spot was Inzamam making a workmanlike fifty while Shoaib Malik tried his best not to lose his wicket. In that he was helped by the Lankan fielders, with Mahela Jaywardene dropping a sitter at first slip off Muralitharan when he hadn’t added to his overnight 6.With that chance spilled, Lankans had further agony in store for them, as immediately afterwards rain started again. Fortunately for Pakistan, this time it came down in buckets. It slowed down, but continued for the rest of the first session, and no play was possible until 35 minutes after the lunch break. When play recommenced eventually at 1.15, Jayasuriya tossed the ball to the tall and sinewy Nuwan Zoysa in the hope that he may be able to take advantage of the dark, overcast and windy conditions.Undeterred Inzamam continued in a watchful mien, working his way towards his first score of 50-plus in four Tests and six innings. But once he was within touching distance, he thumped Muralitharan to the cover boundary with a drive on the back foot. That brought the lean spell to an end for Inzamam; for his 31st score of fifty or more, he consumed 147 deliveries in this patient 187 minute vigil on the crease.Rain stopped and the sun made a brief appearance late in the day. The Lankans, full of bounce and nerves all jumped onto the ground as if they were running out after a jail-break. So keen were they to get back in the fray after the rain holdups and get it over and done with to crown off their single most glorious season, adding to a succession of eight triumphs, that they all including the coach and physio literally started tearing off the covers from the turf. The hapless ground staff joined them willy-nilly. Their over-exuberance caused lots of water to spill on the outfield, and there were some howls of this being against the rules, but the Pakistan team, the neutral umpire and the ICC match officials looked the other way.The Lankans over-enthusiasm, however, brought no dividends to them. When the play resumed for the third and last time, Pakistan had to go through 18.5 overs, but Inzamam and Malik both batted dourly to add only 30 runs in this period. But none of the Pakistani supporters grudged them not being more enterprising.

Pundit understands why Favre would want the Crystal Palace job

Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer has told The Transfer Tavern in an exclusive interview that the Crystal Palace job is appealing to someone who has not managed in England before like Lucien Favre.

After missing out on Nuno Espirito Santo, Palace have turned to the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss.

Favre was sacked by the German giants last December and had been linked with the Celtic job before Ange Postecoglou’s appointment, with Football Insider claiming back in May that the 63-year-old interviewed for the vacancy.

On the Palace position and Favre managing in England, Palmer told TT:

“It’s a very, very tight [spending] budget, so it’s only somebody from abroad who wants to try and break their way into the Premier League, and it’s an opportunity for them to do so, that’s going to take the job.”

From Palace’s perspective, you can also see why they like the look of Favre. While the Swiss manager was eventually sacked by Dortmund, he was able to guide them to second place back in the 2018/19 season, finishing just two points behind Bayern Munich.

Prior to that, Favre led Nice to third place in Ligue 1, securing Champions League football in the process in what was an excellent 2016/17 campaign for the French outfit.
