Young Boys striker Jean-Pierre Nsame is on Newcastle United’s list of targets ahead of the summer transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.

The 27-year-old is also said to be on the radar of Southampton, West Ham and Celtic.

No surprise prolific Nsame is being eyed by PL sides

The Cameroonian has scored 25 goals and assisted a further nine in 38 appearances this season (Transfermarkt). Four of those goals have come in the Europa League, with Young Boys progressing to the round of 16 before they were eliminated by Ajax.

Nsame is just three short of a century of goals for the Swiss Super League outfit, having made 167 appearances (Transfermarkt). In 2020, only Robert Lewandowski, Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Ciro Immobile bettered his tally of 33 goals among Europe-based players (via FIFA.com).

Nsame says he takes inspiration from Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, who operates as ‘a focal point for breaks or clearances due to his technical precision’.

How much would Nsame cost?

Transfermarkt value him at just £6.3m, and Young Boys may decide that a sale this summer is wise given that he’s about to enter the final two years of his contract.

Of course, there’s a possibility that rival offers from the likes of Southampton and West Ham could drive up the fee, but remember that Newcastle once paid £40m for Joelinton so they’re not averse to splashing the cash.

Transfer Tavern verdict

This has the hallmarks of a bargain deal. Nsame may not be playing in one of Europe’s elite leagues but his goalscoring record remains remarkably impressive.

It’s not as if he’s only been filling his boots against minnows, either. He scored in both Europa League group stage meetings with Roma, who are about to take on Manchester United in the semi-finals.

If Newcastle were to be priced out a move for Tammy Abraham, Nsame could be a shrewd alternative.

In other news, an Arabian journalist has made this claim about a possible Newcastle takeover date.

According to a report by club insiders Claret & Hugh, West Ham United have already held talks with representatives over potentially signing star Brentford striker Ivan Toney – with many Hammers fans flocking to give their verdicts on the big claim.

Before today’s action, Toney netted an incredible 29 goals and 10 assists in 42 Championship starts for the Bees and has marked himself out as a revelation over 2020/2021.

As a result, he has entered the West Ham fray as a striking target and the club have even reached out to the player’s agents in discussion over a possible summer move.

The 25-year-old, dubbed ‘unplayable’ by ESPN journalist David Cartlidge on Twitter for his stunning form, is now at the centre of debate from supporters on social media in response to this big C&H claim.

تعد دولة السنغال يومًا آخر للاحتفال بعد الازدحام الشديدة التي شهدته العاصمة “داكار” في اليوم التالي لحصول منتخب أسود التيرانجا على بطولة كأس أمم إفريقيا 2021 على حساب مصر.

وتستعد السنغال لافتتاح ملعب جديد في العاصمة “داكار” وهو ملعب “عبد الله واد” أو “ديامينياديو” الذي كان رئيسًا للدولة الإفريقية لمدة 12 عامًا في الفترة من 2000 إلى 2012، وسيكون على بعد حوالي 30 كيلومترًا من العاصمة، اليوم، الثلاثاء.

سيتضمن الإستاد ملعبين للتدريب ومتخفًا وطنيًا لكرة القدم سيحمل اسم اللاعب الدولي السنغالي الراحل، بابا بوبا ديوب، الذي توفى في عام 2020 وكان أحد أفراد الجيل الذهبي في كأس العالم 2002 وسجل هدف فوز أسود التيرانجا على فرنسا بطل كأس العالم 1998 في الافتتاح.

هذا الملعب الجديد سيستضيف مباراة مصر والسنغال في إياب المرحلة النهائية من تصفيات كأس العالم 2022 والذي سيقام يوم 29 مارس، ولكن في البداية، سيتم افتتاحه في مهرجان كبير يحضره العديد من أساطير كرة القدم.

يتسع ملعب “عبد الله واد” لحضور جماهيري يصل إلى 50 ألف متفرج، على الطراز الإنجليزي بدون مضمار لألعاب القوى، ويتميز بألوان العلم السنغالي الأخضر والأصفر والأحمر، بدأ تشييده قبل عامين لدورة الألعاب الأولمبية، التي ستستضيفها “داكار” في عام 2026 وكلف الملعب الحكومة السنغالية 155 مليار فرنك إفريقي حاولي 238 مليون يورو، بحسب موقع “Afrik Foot”.

وستقام مباراة الأساطير اليوم بين منتخب أساطير السنغال ومنتخب أساطير إفريقيا في تمام الساعة التاسعة مساءً بتوقيت “القاهرة”، وسيشهد على افتتاح الملعب كل من رئيس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم، جياني إنفانتينو، ورئيس الاتحاد الإفريقي لكرة القدم، باتريس موتسيبي، وسيحضر العديد من رؤساء الدول، الرئيس الألماني فرانك فالتر شتايناماير، والرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان، والرئيس الرواندي بول كاجامي ورئيس ليبيريا وأسطورة كرة القدم جورج وياه.

وسيشارك نجوم عديدة من كرة القدم السنغالية المعروفين مثل الحاج ضيوف، بوبكر سار، ديمبا با، مامادو نيانج، موسى سو، لامين دياتا، عمر داف، خليلو فاديجا، عمر جايي سيني، تيرنو يوم.

وتواجه الأهلي ومونتيري في كأس العالم للأندية في الإمارات وخسر الفريق المكسيكي أمام بطل دوري أبطال إفريقيا بهدف نظيف أحرزه، محمد هاني، وكانت هناك انتقادات كثيرة للمدرب لعدم ظهورهم بالمستوى المأمول.

وأصدر نادي مونتيري بعد ساعات من الهزيمة بيانًا يؤكد فيه مغادرة المدرب أجيري وطاقمه الفني، ويشكروه على ما فعله مع الفريق طيلة الأشهر الماضية وعلى رأسها الحصول على دوري أبطال كونكاكاف الخامس.

الجدير بالذكر أن أجيري كان مدربًا لمنتخب مصر في كأس أمم إفريقيا 2019 والتي أقيمت على أرض الفراعنة ولكن تمت إقالته بعد الخروج المبكر من دور الـ16 عقب الهزيمة أمام جنوب إفريقيا.

Chelsea could try to bring Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah back to Stamford Bridge this summer in a sensational swoop, if Bild journalist Christian Falk is to be believed.

Falk reports that Salah ‘is on the shortlist’ of Thomas Tuchel and Champions League finalists Chelsea ahead of the transfer window.

Chelsea paid £14.85million to sign Salah from FC Basel in January 2014, but after just 19 appearances and two goals, he was sold to AS Roma for a £1million loss.

Salah has apparently been identified as a possible target, alongside Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland another former Blue, Romelu Lukaku.

Could Chelsea really be after Salah?

Chelsea may feel as if they need more firepower; £45million signing Timo Werner is their top scorer but he’s only managed 12 goals in all competitions.

Salah is about to enter the final two years of his contract and has said his future is in Liverpool’s hands.

The Londoners have lured a Reds superstar to Stamford Bridge before let’s not forget – in 2011, they paid a then-record £50million to sign Fernando Torres.

Alex McLeish has dropped a big claim on Roberto Martinez amid links to being the next manager at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Lowdown: Martinez wants Tottenham job

As reported by Football Insider on Monday, the former Everton boss is making a ‘huge play’ behind closed doors for the job at Spurs and is willing to quit his current role as coach of the Belgium national team after the Euros are finished.

Martinez is apparently a front runner in terms of the list of candidates after his enthusiasm for the position caught the eye of chiefs at the North London club.

They are going to hold talks over the next few days, with Martinez featuring more prominently on their list.

The Latest: McLeish lauds Martinez

Speaking to Football Insider after that update emerged, McLeish, who himself has managed before in the Premier League, has lauded Martinez and suggested that he would be a very good appointment by the Lilywhites should they decide to hire him:

“I think he’s a brilliant coach, world class.

“To go and coach a Belgium team at that level is incredible coaching and mentality. I believe that he could go anywhere in terms of the top divisions in Europe. He could certainly come back to England and take a top club.

“He’s obviously done a good job in the past for smaller clubs like Wigan, keeping them in the Premier League. It didn’t go forever but again, it’s down to the quality of the personnel that you have on the field.

“I definitely believe he’s a superlative coach.” 

The Verdict: Tottenham should hire Martinez

If Martinez is interested in taking on the job after the Euros have ended, then THFC should jump on the opportunity to hire the Spaniard.

He has a vast amount of experience managing in the top flight with both Wigan Athletic and the Toffees, and has also managed Swansea City, highlighting his knowledge of the English game.

Tottenham need a man to come in and end their trophy drought, and Martinez has all of the credentials, having masterminded the Latics to a 1-0 FA Cup win over Manchester City in the 2013 final.

Nonetheless, at 47 years of age as well, Spurs could well hire a manager that would at least give them some stability.
