Many Aston Villa fans have been reacting to Rico Henry’s comments on social media, with the left-back revealing his experiences with the club as a youngster.
Recent reports have suggested that the Brentford ace remains on Dean Smith’s transfer radar ahead of the summer window.
Henry a possible Taylor replacement?
Smith worked with Henry in London prior to moving to Villa Park, and the 23-year-old has gone on to make more than 120 appearances for the Bees.
Should a move to Villa go through, Henry could come in to replace the ageing Neil Taylor, with the Welshman – who has made just one league appearance this season – out of contract at the end of the campaign.
Henry, talking to Brentford’s YouTube channel (as cited by Birmingham Live) shared his story of how he started out as a Villa fan before switching his allegiances to Birmingham City.
“You know what, people don’t know this. (I supported) Aston Villa because my dad supported them.”
“I went on trial at Villa and didn’t get signed so my dad stopped supporting them. So we were kind of forced to watch Birmingham. It was crazy.”
“I’m quite detached now. Brentford is my team and you don’t want to think about other clubs. Now I don’t really support anyone.”
@AVFC_News shared the story on social media on Sunday morning, which – as to be expected – received plenty of attention from numerous Villa supporters.

أبدى أحمد يحيى وكيل اللاعبين، تعجبه من تصريحات بيتسو موسيماني المدير الفني للأهلي بشأن عدم علمه برحيل كهربا إلى فريق هاتاي سبور التركي.
وكان موسيماني قد صرح بأنه لم يكن على علم بوجود مفاوضات لرحيل كهربا إلى الدوري التركي، وأنه تفاجئ بذلك من إدارة الأهلي.

وقال أحمد يحيي في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “أون تايم سبورتس”: “أهم شيء ماذا سيفعل كهربا في الإعارة، وعلى أساسه الوضع سيتغير، وحتى لو كان المدير الفني للأهلي لا يريده، بالتأكيد الأمور ستتغير”.
وأكمل: “ما أفهمه أن كهربا كان يسير بشكل جيد في التدريبات، أما سبب عدم مشاركته فلا أعرفه”.
وتابع: “تصريح موسيماني عن موقفه من رحيل كهربا غريب، لأن الأهلي لا يُمكن أن يُفرط في لاعب عكس رغبة المدير الفني”.
وأردف: ” كهربا فعل كل شئ في الأهلي لكي يلعب، وتحدث مع موسيماني والأخير كان يقول له سأعطيك الفرصة، ولكن بعد استنزاف كل المحاولات قرر الرحيل، وأخيرًا كهربا ذهب لنادي جيد وسيواجه جالطة سراي يوم الأحد المقبل”.
واختتم: “المفاوضات بين الزمالك ومصطفى فتحي ما زالت قائمة ولم تُحسم حتى الآن، ومصطفى محمد وقع على عقد جديد مع جالطة سراي، وبعد كأس الأمم (ربنا يكرم)”.

Flocking to this news that he won’t be joining up with his France teammates, it’s safe to say many supporters don’t agree with the decision to omit Laporte once again – branding it a ‘joke’ and ’embarrassing’ as well as ‘disgraceful’.

O Santos iniciou nesta segunda-feira, para sócios, a venda de ingressos para o clássico contra o Corinthians, que será no domingo, às 16 h, pela 24ª rodada. Em relação aos preços dos jogos anteriores, as entradas ficaram mais caras.
O ingresso mais barato, para ficar na arquibancada, custa R$ 80, com meia entrada (R$ 40). Já o mais caro chega a R$ 140 (R$ 70 a meia-entrada).
De segunda até quarta-feira, as vendas só acontecerão para sócios pela internet. Para quem não é sócio, bilheterias e o site Ingresso Fácil só farão a comercialização à partir das 11h de quinta-feira.

Leeds must win the race to sign Crystal Palace star Patrick van Aanholt in this summer transfer window amid reports linking him with a move elsewhere.
What’s the story?
Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Marcelo Bielsa’s side have got their eye on signing the Dutchman on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.
However, Football Insider now claim that Galatasaray have offered a contract to Van Aanholt as they look to beat the Whites to his signing, with the Turkish giants also the team who have supposedly agreed a deal to land Leeds’ Gjanni Alioski.
Premier League proven
Van Aanholt is battle-hardened in English football, having played 209 times in the Premier League, and would surely be more of a guarantee in terms of hitting the ground running at Elland Road.
His more attacking style of play as a left-back is also right up Bielsa’s wheelhouse, with Gus Poyet, his former manager at Sunderland, saying: “You need to be really on top of him for his defensive duties and maybe have people around who can help him to maintain the mentality you need to defend. He’s a very offensive full back. He has an explosive ability to go forward and help the team to create chances.
“I would say use him as much as you can on the offensive side, and convince him to help with his defensive duties. But that’s his character. It is what it is. We can’t change that and he can’t be a different player than he is.”
The £55,000-a-week earning Dutchman would be a shrewd signing for Leeds given his Premier League experience and the fact he would arrive as a free agent once his contract expires.
It’s a deal which Victor Orta and co should be all over.
Meanwhile, Leeds must surely rue letting this star leave…

As Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola confirms that promising young striker Liam Delap will be training with the first team squad ‘every day’ next season, via City Xtra, plenty of Sky Blues are buzzing over the update on social media.
Delap, who has been in sensational form for Man City’s Under-23s side this season in the Premier League 2 division, scoring 20 goals and assisting four others in just 15 outings (Transfermarkt), seems to be at the centre of Guardiola’s plans for 2021/2022.
The City boss, speaking in a press conference before the encounter with Leicester City this afternoon, confirmed that Delap is currently training with the first team and heaped praise on the 18-year-old.
As well as this, Guardiola also went on to reveal that Delap will be heavily involved with first team training again next campaign – confirming he’ll be with them ‘every day’.
Delap has already teased glimpses of his talent for the senior squad, having marked his first team debut with an exquisite finish against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup third round (BBC).
Flocking to Guardiola’s update he is set to be with the first team every day for training next season, it’s little wonder why Sky Blues are overjoyed, with one supporter calling it ‘excellent news’.
