O juvenil terminou a primeira fase na segunda colocação do Grupo B, depois superou a Ponte Preta nas quartas de final e na semi bateu o Avaí, chegando a grande final da 28ª Copa Santiago de Futebol. Granit Xhaka has always been an enigma at Arsenal. Signed for £35m by Arsene Wenger in 2016, it has been an acquisition that has caused endless debates within the Gunners fan base.

On his day, he can ping a 35-yard diagonal pass and dictate the tempo beautifully. Those days, however, are few and far between.

That being said, the Swiss has done incredibly well to come back from where he was. Booed off the pitch before he cupped his ears to the crowd in 2019, it looked like his days at the Emirates were done and dusted.

He was stripped of the captaincy but Mikel Arteta sparked rejuvenation in the midfield player. He bounced back and became a key part of the Spaniard’s rebuild.

However, against Tottenham on Sunday evening, he showed exactly why so many Arsenal supporters dislike him.

In truth, it’s hard to see what Xhaka offers besides his passing, but even that has become negative in recent weeks. Instead of turning and being positive with the ball, he plays it back towards the defence. It’s infuriating to watch, especially when you see a number of players in his position throughout the Premier League being more incisive with their play.

Unfortunately, we saw the very worst of Xhaka this weekend. He managed to complete 92% of his passes but in all honesty, not very many were positive attempts at kicking the football.

He made four fouls and lost possession an eye-brow raising ten times. He struggled with the relentless pace in Tottenham’s attack and looked completely out of the picture on the counter. With that in mind, it was unsurprising that he failed to make a single interception.

Xhaka’s game has always been a simple one but after reviving himself in north London, he is now producing performances that made fans boo him in the first place.

Are we back at square one with Xhaka? It certainly feels like it.

Once Thomas Partey is fit and up to speed again, he simply has to play alongside Dani Ceballos. Xhaka needs to be dropped and reserved for the Europa League. He has now failed under three separate managers.

Arteta should be angry – the midfielder isn’t good enough.

علّق سمير عثمان الخبير التحكيمي على الحالات الجدلية بشأن قرارات الحكم أحمد الغندور أثناء مباراة الأهلي والمقاولون العرب التي جمعت بينهما ضمن منافسات الدوري المصري.

الأهلي نجح في الفوز على نظيره المقاولون العرب بهدف نظيف سجله لاعبه حمدي فتحي في الجولة الرابعة من المسابقة المحلية.

وقال سمير عثمان في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “اون تايم سبورتس”: “مباراة الأهلي والمقاولون صعبة جدا تحكيميا، وبشأن هدف المقاولون الملغي؟، الرسم الذي خرج من تقنية للفار غريب جدا وأعطت قرار أغرب”.

وتابع: “أقرب جزء يُحاسب عليه اللاعب بتسلل هو الكتف، وكتف لاعب الأهلي هو الأقرب للمرمى ولذلك فكان يغطي التسلل، هي بالنسبة لي فرصة بها شك كبير، والخطوط التي ظهرت للحكم تدين حكام الفار بشكل كبير”.

وأكمل: “في الدقيقة 22 كان هناك شد لمدافع المقاولون لـ محمد شريف، والمخرج لم يقم بإعادة الفرصة، وكان من المفترض أن يستدعي حكم الفار حكم الساحة لأن هذه الفرصة ركلة جزاء صحيحة للأهلي لم تحتسب”.

وحول إلغاء ركلة جزاء المقاولون العرب؟، أوضح: “القرار صحيح لأن الكرة جاءت في كتف لاعب الأهلي ولا يعاقب بلمسة يد”.

وأشار: “قرار الحكم بعدم طرد لاعب المقاولون في تدخله على أليو ديانج بقوة بعد استدعاء الفار صحيح، والإنذار صائب”.

وعن طرد حمدي فتحي، أردف: “اللاعب كان متجه للمرمى، والسيطرة على الكرة موجود، ولكن عدد المدافعين كان أكثر”.

After Sergio Reguilon’s arrival from Real Madrid in the summer, Ben Davies would have been forgiven for being concerned over how his future at Tottenham would look like.

The Lilywhites’ summer signing had impressed for Europa League winners Sevilla before joining the north Londoners on a permanent deal, and at just 24, seems primed to enter his peak years at the club.

But on Sunday night against Wolves in the Premier League, Davies showed that he can still play a huge role for Spurs both this season and in the future.

Playing on the left-hand side of a back-three – a job he has done for Wales – the 27-year-old looked assured in his defending and dealt admirably with the unenviable task of having to deal with Adama Traore.

Aside from perhaps being at fault for Roman Saiss’ equaliser, Davies was undoubtedly one of Spurs’ better performers of the evening. As per Sofascore, he won eight of his 13 total duels, made two tackles and two interceptions apiece, and also provided two key passes too – not to mention setting up Tanguy Ndombele for his 1st minute strike.

His ability to play as both a full-back and as part of a back-three is something the Spurs boss has previously talked up, saying: “Ben and Reguilon is a little bit the same. Can they play together or for one to play and the other one has to be on the bench? Yes, they can play together and that’s a very good thing for us.

“Ben is very intelligent. So that’s why it’s quite easy to understand the difference between playing left-back, centre-back with five or centre-back with four. Of course left-footed there are not many centre-backs with a left-foot. Some clubs have them but the majority don’t. To have him as an option is also good because to attack, the build-up is also important.”

That versatility is crucial to the way Mourinho can set his team up, not only in his pre-match briefings, but also how he can adapt on the fly during a game too.

They may not have come away with all three points, but Davies’ impressive performance at Molineux has given Mourinho some serious food for thought going forward about how best to use him.

O Cruz-Maltino tem direito a 3,5% da quantia total da transferência por conta do mecanismo de solidariedade da Fifa. Isto porque o Vasco é o clube formador de Alex Teixeira.

Existem algumas explicações para o cálculo deste valor. Segundo o mecanismo da Fifa, a idade de formação vai de 12 aos 23 anos de idade. Quanto mais tempo o jogador passa no clube neste período, mais direito o clube tem. Por exemplo, dos 12 até o 15 anos, o clube recebe 0,25% do total. De 16 aos 23, 0,5%. Como chegou ao Vasco aos 12 anos e foi vendido quando tinha 20, o clube tem direito a 3,5%.

Como foi vendido por R$ 218 milhões, o Vasco terá direito a R$ 7,6 milhões de acordo com a cotação atual. No entanto, o dinheiro só cairá na conta do cruz-maltino quando o Jiangsu Suning efetuar o pagamento. Carlton Palmer, while speaking exclusively with Football FanCast, says that he thinks AFC Bournemouth’s Joshua King may not be the man West Ham United need to replace Sebastien Haller, unless they are only looking for a rotational option.

Haller is set to complete a deal to join Ajax, meaning that there is now a vacancy for a forward in the West Ham squad, but if the Hammers are looking for a starting centre-forward, then Palmer does not think King is the correct replacement for the outgoing Ivorian.

King has entered into the final six months of his £45,000-per-week contract at the Vitality Stadium and will leave the Cherries as a free agent in the summer if not signed this month, despite widespread interest from Premier League clubs.

The Norway international has previously been touted as Moyes’ top-target for the mid-season window, but West Ham could face competition from a host of sides with West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers also discussing moves for him.

King was the subject of a failed £13m bid by West Ham last summer as they sought to capitalise on the forward’s uncertain future, but were waved away as Bournemouth demanded a fee in excess of £17m despite their relegation to the Championship.

Former England international Palmer thinks the Hammers will revisit King’s situation in the January transfer window, but he questioned if he’s the right man to be a regular starter at London Stadium.

“He’s only played seven games this season and I would have thought Bournemouth would have hung on to him to see them get over the mark and get promoted,” Palmer told Football FanCast.

“But he’s not played a lot of football for them this season and they’re doing very well”

“I don’t see him going anywhere as a first-team starter because his goals record is not phenomenal. I think he’s scored 16 in one season, but that’s not a reflection of his general goalscoring record. But what he has got, he’s got energy, he’s got pace, he’ll keep defences honest. So maybe West Ham might have a bat for him because he will fall into their price category. [Bournemouth] turned down £13m for him when they got relegated and he’s going to be available on a free in the summer, so maybe he might be available a little bit cheaper and maybe West Ham might have a look at him.”

“I think he’s got plenty of energy, in the Championship he’s going to be a handful, without a shadow of a doubt, if he’s fit and he’s playing. He’s struggled with injuries, hasn’t scored a goal and hasn’t created a goal this season.”

“He gave [Bournemouth] a lot of energy and a lot of endeavour [but] he would only be a squad player, for me, going to the Premier League.”

King is allegedly desperate to secure a move to the London Stadium this month but Bournemouth are yet to receive any offers for the player, despite the reported widespread interest in the 28-year-old, who has featured eight times this season after suffering with a thigh injury and testing positive for coronavirus.

These issues have restricted King to play just 371 minutes over his appearances and is yet to score or provide an assist, but is averaging 0.8 shots and 0.6 key passes per league game while making 0.5 successful dribbles and winning 1.8 duels, per SofaScore.
