Jamie Vardy will start his eighth season at Leicester City in the 2019/20 campaign and is already a legendary figure at the King Power Stadium. His goals played a huge part in Leicester’s unbelievable Premier League title win in the 2015/16 season.

Since then he has reached 100 goals for Leicester and hit double figures in the following three seasons.

According to Alan Nixon of The Sun, Bournemouth are demanding £25m from Aston Villa if they are serious about bringing Tyrone Mings back to Villa Park on a permanent basis.

What’s the word, then?

Well, Dean Smith’s side took Mings on loan for the second half of last season, and he definitely became a hit amongst the supporters with some truly excellent performances.

The former Ipswich man was pivotal in helping the Villans return to the Premier League via the play-offs last term, and the Midlands-based side had hoped to thrash out negotiations over a permanent deal after Mings returned from his holidays.

However, the Cherries’ valuation of the 26-year-old seems to have put Villa off, as Nixon reports that they won’t be paying that sum in a hurry and makes alternatives such as Gary Cahill seem far more feasible.

Some Villa fans will assumingly hate this news

Firstly, a lot of Villa fans will assumingly hate this news as they were calling for the 6 foot 5 defender to be signed permanently just a few weeks ago, so to hear that the club may be searching for alternatives probably won’t be music to their ears.

Some of the Villa faithful should also really be against the arrival of Cahill.

The 33-year-old has absolutely no sell-on value unlike Mings, and it isn’t even a definite fact that he can perform to the levels that he used to be able to after a season sat on the bench under Maurizio Sarri – Cahill made just two substitute appearances in the league, and started just two Carabao Cup games.

Mings appeared to be a fan favourite despite spending just six months with Villa, so the news that he may not be coming to the club whilst a man nine years older – and potentially a lot worse – will be arriving is hardly the best update.

It’s 2019 and football is still being plagued by racism.

Any form of racial abuse, or abuse of any other kind for that matter, definitely has no place in the modern society, yet it continues to persist in football.

But for all the world’s efforts to abolish it, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Arsenal’s young star-in-making currently playing his football at German second-tier side Vfl Bochum, has unfortunately been the latest victim of said discrimination.

According to the Mirror’s latest report, the 20-year-old defender was racially abused and left in tears during the game against Swiss side St Gallen on Tuesday.

There were many others, mostly Arsenal youngsters, who did the same as the footballing world united behind Osei-Tutu.

Sunderland were beaten 1-0 by Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit Belenenses this weekend, and Jack Ross’ biggest problem last season is rearing its ugly head once again.

It’s only pre-season. Most managers would quite happily lose every friendly if it meant getting their players fit and primed for the start of the real campaign, and the results don’t really matter.

However, the fact that the Black Cats have now played two friendlies in Portugal and not even scored a single goal is most definitely a concern, after their 0-0 draw with Benfica B last week.

Indeed, last season Ross’ side fell behind in the automatic promotion race when they drew six out of eight league matches 1-1 between December 29 and February 12, and they drew with that same score-line a whopping 15 times in total across the whole campaign.

Just turning a couple of those draws into 2-1 or 3-1 wins could have secured automatic promotion and avoided Wembley heartbreak.

Clearly then, the manager has not yet figured out how to break teams down and open games up, and these problems, which ruined the last campaign and have persisted so far through pre-season, all stem from one position.

Crying out for a playmaker

It may be tempting to blame the men up front for the lack of goals, but Sunderland’s Charlie Wyke and Will Grigg have both shown in the past they can perform at this level.

Wyke racked up 16 goals and nine assists in his final season with Bradford, while Grigg boasts a remarkable 100 League One goals in his career.

Both players know how to stick the ball in the net if they get the chances, but the problem is they are not getting chances.

George Honeyman was Ross’ first choice in the number ten role last term, but only managed a measly two assists in 28 games in the position.

Of course, the captain has not travelled on the pre-season trip to Portugal, but even fans have noted that it is the lack of chances to blame for the goalscoring drought, rather than the goalscorers themselves.

With Honeyman providing no success last season and no sign of a top playmaker emerging in pre-season, Ross simply must strengthen the position in the summer transfer window.

The Black Cats have added three new players so far, all in defence, but a creative number ten must now be the absolute priority.

If they don’t get some creativity behind the likes of Grigg and Wyke, the exact same problems that plagued the 18/19 campaign will do the same damage this time around.

وأردف: “مباراة الزمالك في نهائي إفريقيا لا تنسى، هي من أصعب المباريات التي خضتها، الزمالك كان قائمته كاملة وفريق محترم وله كل الاحترام والتقدير، ولكن نحن كلاعبين كان كل همنا تحقيق البطولة، لا أريد الأداء يكون جيدًا أو أكون رقم واحد في الفريق”.

واستمر: “الأهلي أدى مباراة كبيرة ولو لم نفعل ذلك لن نفوز، اجتهدنا في المباراة والتوفيق لن يذهب غير للمجتهد”.

وعن كرة حسين الشحات في القائم أمام الزمالك، أوضح: “عندما أتت في القائم كان بداخلي شعور غير طبيعي، وأيمن أشرف خرج عن شعوره، وأنا نفس الأمر، ولكن ذهبت لأيمن وطلبت منه الهدوء، وقلت له إن الله سيكتب لنا الفوز في النهاية”.

وأكمل: “قبل هدف أفشة بـ5 دقائق، تحدتث معه وقلت له أنت لاعب كبير، وستكون أنت سبب فوزنا”.

وأتم: “بعد الهدف كان هناك حمل غير طبيعي (كأنك تحمل جبل وينزل من عليك)، هذا ما كنت أشعر به، كانت فرحة هستيرية، وفي نفس الوقت كان تفكيري في الـ10 دقائق المتبقية من المباراة”. واختتم:” كان ممكن أن نحرز الهدف الثالث في مرمى الزمالك لو هناك بعض التركيز في المباراة”.

Celtic fans have laughed off the potential signing of Ryan Kent after one fan brought up the possibility of him moving to Parkhead.

The Liverpool winger will not leave Anfield on loan this summer as it looks like his time at the club is over. Jurgen Klopp told The Liverpool Echo that at the age of 22 Kent is too old for a temporary deal away from the Champions League winners, clearly implying his future lays elsewhere.

The winger spent last season on loan at Rangers and the club has looked to bring him back again this summer.

Yet, with the Reds looking to cash in on their young winger, Celtic supporters have begun to wonder if he’d be a fit at Parkhead instead.

After all, he has shown he can perform well in Scotland as he was crowned the Young Player of the Year last term, lighting up the league with his excellent one-on-one ability, scoring six times and adding nine assists.
