وخاض مانشستر سيتي مباراته في الجولة الثالثة والعشرين من الدوري الإنجليزي ضد تشيلسي، على ملعب “الاتحاد” حيث فاز بنتيجة 1/3.
وشهدت المباراة مشاركة المحترف عمر مرموش، في ظهوره الأول رفقة مانشستر سيتي بعد قدومه من آينتراخت فرانكفورت.
ورغم إعلان مانشستر سيتي صفقة تعاقده مع مرموش يوم الخميس الماضي، إلا أن المدرب بيب جوارديولا دفع به في التشكيل الأساسي ضد تشيلسي، حيث لعب حتى الدقيقة 73.
وقال ستيفن ماكنيرني، الصحفي الإنجليزي المتخصص في شؤون مانشستر سيتي، لشبكة “سبورتس مول” الإنجليزية: “أعجبت به للغاية، لم تكن مشاركة مرموش الأولى مذهلة، ولكنه كان واعدًا بشكل مذهل”.
وأضاف: “الدوري الألماني على مستوى عالٍ بشكل لا يصدق، ولكن عندما تأتي إلى الدوري الإنجليزي وأي بلد جديد، سيكون من الصعب دائمًا التكيف على الفور، خاصة بالنظر إلى المطالب التي تُفرض على مانشستر سيتي، كذلك بالنظر إلى وضع مانشستر سيتي الآن، لقد كان موسمًا مضطربًا للفريق”.
وواصل: “أعتقد أن تأثير مرموش والطريقة التي يلعب بها، أجبرت مانشستر سيتي على تغيير خطته قليلًا، كما غيّر جوارديولا ذلك بسبب الافتقار إلى السيطرة، ولكن مرموش يناسب هذا الفريق من مانشستر سيتي”.

وأردف: “انطلاقاته في الخلف، إنه فعال، هذا الرجل متعطش حقًا للأهداف والتأثير على المباراة، إنه يعمل في الخلف أيضًا، كنت قلقًا بعض الشيء في البداية بشأن لعبه كجناح أيسر، لقد تحدثت إلى عدد قليل من الأشخاص الذين يشاهدون الدوري الألماني أكثر مني، وأخبروني أنه لم يكن ناجحًا قبل تحويله إلى مهاجم في فرانكفورت”.

Hampshire took 14 wickets in the day as they closed in on a comprehensive innings victory in their opening LV=Insurance County Championship match against Leicestershire.It took the visitors only 80 minutes to wrap up the Leicestershire first innings after the Foxes resumed on 151 for 4. The rout started with the second ball of the day, when non-striker Colin Ackermann, who had shared a partnership of 68 for the fourth wicket with Harry Swindells, was called through for a quick single and was well short of his ground when James Vince’s throw hit the stumps.Swindells went on to make a career-best 59 but fell to legspinner Mason Crane, who found good turn to pick up 3 for 11 in his spell.”We’d have taken 14 wickets at the start of the day and to be only two wickets away from victory is a nice feeling,” Crane said. “We stuck at it well. Any day you take six wickets is a good one and there was a bit of spin and bounce at times, though it was quite slow – I’d always settle for that in April. We’ve got the new ball now so hopefully we can get the job done.”Leicestershire’s second innings followed a similar pattern, though Harry Dearden hit some fine off-side drives in going to 62 and Lewis Hill battled hard in making 65. But there was controversy in the dismissal of Hassan Azad, the opener being given out stumped off Liam Dawson when wicketkeeper Lewis McManus knocked off the bails with his left hand while the ball was in his right hand, which was raised in the air as he appealed for a catch.Crane was again amongst the wickets, dismissing Dearden, Swindells and Ben Mike, but Leicestershire’s stubborn late resistance ensured play would go into a fourth day.Swindells said: “We tried to battle but 50s and 60s don’t win you games, once you get in you’ve got to go big, like James Vince and Liam Dawson did for Hampshire, and that’s a lesson we have to learn. All summer long, Newcastle United have been on the hunt for a new right-sided attacker to try and bolster Eddie Howe’s attacking ranks.
However, after multiple failed attempts, with just ten days remaining in the transfer window, there’s not long left for the hierarchy and recruitment team to pick out a talent that would improve the options available to the Magpies boss.
Jacob Murphy started the season opener against Southampton in the Premier League last weekend, before being replaced by full-back Emil Krafth after Fabian Schar’s red card, with Miguel Almiron an unused substitute during the victory.
After such heavy investment, it’s evident that more needs to be spent to give Howe that option that he’s been craving all summer, but no deal seems close for any of the targets, which include Anthony Elanga and Noni Madueke.
As a result, the club could turn their attention to one player who has previously caught the eye in recent months.
Newcastle should make move for £35m talent
In the club’s hunt for a new right-sided attacker, it’s pivotal that they don’t make an erratic signing for the sake of an extra body, with any addition needing to be an upgrade on the players currently in that area.

One player they could reignite interest is PSV’s Belgian winger Johan Bakayoko, after previously registering interest in a move for the 21-year-old earlier in the summer.
However, they wouldn’t be alone in their hunt for the youngster, with Liverpool also touted as a potential destination for the talent who has already registered two goals in the Eredivisie this season.
Any deal for Bakayoko would cost an interested party around the £35m mark, a reasonable price given his impressive goal return so far in 2024/25.
He would prove to be an upgrade on the current crop of players at Howe’s disposal, whilst also a better option than one sensation who recently departed Tyneside.
Why Bakayoko would be an upgrade on Minteh
A lot of disappointment was expressed at the end of June when Newcastle offloaded young winger Yankuba Minteh in a £33m deal to help boost their PSR standing.
The Gambian winger produced a sensational campaign on loan at Dutch outfit Feyenoord, registering 15 goal contributions in just 27 appearances – helping Arne Slot’s side claim a Champions League spot.
Whilst the deal saw the Magpies make a £26m profit on the £8m fee they paid for him the summer prior, there were real expectations that he could’ve been the answer to the club’s right-wing issues – but ultimately they couldn’t risk a point deduction during the current campaign.
However, a potential move for Bakayoko would see Howe’s secure themselves a higher-quality talent, with the youngster dubbed as a “[Bukayo] Saka regen” by analyst Ben Mattinson, with the talent possessing a very similar trait of cutting inside onto his wand of a left foot.
When comparing both his and Minteh's respective stats from the Eredivisie last season, the Belgian came out on top in various key areas for an attacker, potentially adding much-needed quality to Newcastle’s front line.
Bakayoko registered more combined goals and assists than Minteh last season – with 21 in total in the league – demonstrating the added goalscoring threat that he possesses in attacking areas.

He also averaged more progressive passes per 90, whilst completing more take-ons and carries into the final third, creating opportunities for himself or the likes of Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak.
£35m for a player of his quality in today’s market could potentially be excellent business by the club, with his value set to soar with regular minutes in one of Europe’s leading divisions. That likeness to Saka is also another tick in the box, with the Englishman chalking up 34 goals and assists for Arsenal last season.

Sky Sports add that Ipswich are "confident they’ll make one deal happen" out of Broja and the 25-year-old Ivorian, though no potential fee is mentioned in their discussions. It is unlikely that Latte Lath's £10,000 a week wages will be a problem for the newly promoted side.
For McKenna, a striker could cap what has been a transfer window beyond even the most optimistic Ipswich's fans hopes.

A “commanding” Derby County player could now miss as many as 14 matches after picking up an injury, following an update from manager Paul Warne.
Derby's promising start to new season
The Rams returned to the Championship after last season’s promotion from League One, and it was always going to be intriguing to see how Warne’s side would fare back in the second tier of English football.
So far, Derby have fared impressively, winning three of their first five league games this season, including the 1-0 win at home to Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.
The early signs suggest that the Rams look well-equipped to preserve their Championship status for another season, although supporters may be dreaming big and thinking about a possible promotion push, with Ipswich Town showing that back-to-back promotions can be achieved.
In order for that to happen, Warne will need to be fortunate in the injury department, allowing him to rotate effectively during a relentless season, but a worrying update has emerged regarding one player.
Warne drops worrying Derby injury news
Speaking to The Derby Telegraph, Warne admitted that Derby loanee David Ozoh could be out for up to 14 matches because of a hamstring injury. Warne alluded to Ozoh missing up to 12 weeks of action in a worst-case scenario, which would be until December 7th, with a scan set for Monday and the player “down in the dumps”.
“He (David) is a bit down in the dumps, bless him. I should know this really but I don’t know whether he has had a hamstring injury before. He obviously felt it but we don’t know the severity of it yet. He will go for a scan on Monday and it could be a couple of weeks and a twinge or it could be eight or 12 weeks. We are blessed that we have a good medical team so we will get him back.”
This is a potential massive setback for both Ozoh and Derby, considering the 19-year-old has caught the eye since arriving on loan from Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window.
Prior to the injury blow, the midfielder had started all five of his side’s Championship matches this season, enjoying a highly impressive 95.1% pass completion rate, as well as averaging 3.8 tackles per game, which is consistently more than any other Rams player. Meanwhile, former Derby ace Shaun Barker has shown his appreciation for Ozoh, saying:
“If you gave him another three or four minutes for choosing the player of the match he might have got it. He was that good in the last 5-10 minutes, he seemed to be more commanding, making more tackles didn’t lose the ball, drove forward got his goal. Hopefully, Warne’s worst-case scenario of 12 weeks doesn’t happen, and Ozoh will be back far sooner than that, with his influence in the opening weeks of the season showing how important he is going to be for Derby this season.
Should that be the case, there are some huge matches that he will be unavailable for, including trips to Sunderland and Leeds United, although the latter is on December 7, at which point he will hopefully be back.
