Buscando a vitória desde o apito inicial, as equipes começaram com grande intensidade. Aos 4, o Avaí já teve uma grande chance de abrir o placar. Na jogada, Bruno Silva lançou, Vinicius Leite desviou, e Getúlio conseguiu ficar na cara do gol. O atacante avançou, porém, na hora de finalizar, mandou pelo lado de fora das redes.

RESPOSTA À ALTURA!

O Remo não ficou para trás e não demorou para assustar o Leão, também quase abrindo o placar do Baenão. Aos 8, Gedoz recebeu de Lucas Siqueira e aproveitou para mandar uma bomba de fora da área. A bola passou perto do gol de Gledson. Um minuto depois, o Avaí, na recuperação, apareceu com Lourenço, que tentou de longe. A bola parou na defesa de Vinicius.

TRUNCADOS?!

Ainda com os ânimos bastante animados, os times seguiram na pressão a todo momento. Enquanto o Remo pressionava a saída de bola, o Avaí aproveitava os contra-ataques deixados pelos donos da casa. Aos 14, os mandantes apareceram com Matheus. Após cobrança de falta ensaiada, Gedoz rolou para o atacante, que mandou uma bomba. A bola foi no meio para a defesa de Gledson, que espalmou.

CONTRA-ATAQUE E DEFESAS…

O jogo seguiu com o mesmo panorama: o Remo pressionando, enquanto o Avaí buscava o erro do adversário. No entanto, os donos da casa conseguiam ficar mais com a bola, dificultando as jogadas do Leão.

DE CANHOTA!

Depois de uns minutos de equilíbrio, os catarinenses conseguiram se livrar dos erros e tiveram uma grande oportunidade de marcar. Aos 37, Lourenço mandou para Copete, que encontrou um espaço e mandou uma bomba de canhota na entrada da área. A bola foi por cima.

PLACAR ABERTO!

Aos 39, Gedoz tentou de voleio, mas pegou errado e mandou para a linha de fundo. Foi apenas aos 43 que a equipe remista conseguiu abrir o placar do Baenão. Na jogada, Victor Andrade se infiltrou nas linhas do Avaí e, após receber de Matheus Oliveira, tocou na saída de Gledson. O gol foi confirmado após análise do VAR.

EM BUSCA DO EMPATE!

Após levarem o gol, o Avaí, que tem uma das melhores defesas da competição, começou a correr atrás do prejuízo. Aos 44, Vinicius Leite cruzou da esquerda, e a bola bateu na grama, quase enganando o goleiro do Remo. No reflexo, Vinicius conseguiu defender.

PÊNALTI POLÊMICO!

O segundo tempo voltou animado. Aos 10, Edilson bateu com muita força, fazendo a bola ganhar bastante força e só parar na defesa do goleiro Vinicius, que espalmou. No rebote, Copete disputou com Marlon e acabou caindo na área. O colombiano, afirmando ter sido atingido com o pé na cabeça, pediu pênalti. Após análise do VAR, o árbitro marcou. Edilson foi para a bola e mandou no lado direito. Vinicius espalma, mas o próprio lateral do Leão completou. 1 a 1.

ÂNIMOS AFLORADOS E INTENSIDADE…
O jogo seguiu em alto nível, com ambas as equipes buscando o gol a todo momento. Aos 17, o Avaí apareceu com Bruno Silva, que pegou de primeira a sobra na entrada da área. A bola, porém, passou por cima do gol do Remo.

NA RUA…

A situação ficou mais complicada para o lado do Remo aos 20. Após ter xingado o árbitro, Victor Andrade foi expulso do banco de reservas. O autor do primeiro gol dos donos da casa virou desfalque para a próxima partida da equipe remista.

GOL… CONTRA!

O jogo se manteve bastante disputado, com o segundo gol do Remo saindo em uma confusão. Aos 26, Pingo levantou, e Fagner Alemão disputou pelo alto com Lucas Siqueira. Alemão acabou desviando contra a própria meta, tirando Gledson da jogada. Remo novamente em vantagem.

MAIS UM NA RUA…

Muito faltoso e de grande intensidade, o jogo se tornou ainda mais dramático aos 31. Depois de chutar a bola em direção ao banco de reservas do Remo, Edilson recebeu o segundo amarelo, indo também mais cedo para o vestiário.

Querendo se aproximar ainda mais do G-4, o Avaí seguiu procurando o gol do empate a todo momento. Aos 34, Copete teve uma boa oportunidade. Jansen afastou a bola nos pés do atacante, que viu Vinicius fora do gol e arriscou. A bola, porém, foi pela linha de fundo.

TENTANDO O TERCEIRO…

O Remo seguiu a pressão. Aos 46, Raimar apareceu dentro da área e finalizou. No entanto, a bola foi por cima do gol do Avaí. Dois minutos depois, foi a vez de Lucas Tocantins tentar. O atacante, do lado esquerdo, bateu cruzou, mas Gledson fez a defesa. Aos 49, Rafinha recebeu dentro da área, levou para a canhota e mandou uma bomba. A bola foi pela linha de fundo. India are dealing with an injury scare to another bowler as they waited on scan results on Umesh Yadav’s calf after he walked off with a strain in the middle of his fourth over on the third day at the MCG. The BCCI released an update in the middle of the final session: “Umesh Yadav complained of pain in his calf while bowling his 4th over and was assessed by the BCCI medical team. He is being taken for scans now.”That meant any decision on whether Yadav will be available in the rest of the Test will be taken overnight. India were already missing two first-choice seam bowlers, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami, going into the Test. It was just as well that they played an extra bowler in Ravindra Jadeja in place of the missing batsman, Virat Kohli. India had Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj to use as seamers for the rest of the third day’s play.Yadav hurt his calf in his follow through in the eighth over of the Australian innings and was in visible discomfort after delivering the ball. The team physiotherapist came out to check Yadav before the bowler hobbled off the field. India took a first-innings lead of 131, and had taken three wickets, including those of Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, with 38 runs still in bank when the update arrived. Yadav had taken one wicket, that of opener Joe Burns, before he went off.If Yadav were to be ruled out for the rest of the series, Navdeep Saini would be in line for a debut with three other nets bowlers in the touring party available to be drafted into the squad. India had asked for T Natarajan, Shardul Thakur and Kartik Tyagi to stay back after the limited-overs series.

Liverpool are yet to conclude any business since Arne Slot took over as manager but fear not, we are still a while yet from the Premier League recommending in August.

Tears were shed when Jurgen Klopp departed Anfield in May, but this is a great chance for a reset in Merseyside.

Manchester City and Arsenal have been the dominant sides in the top-flight over the last two years but it's time that Slot put the Reds back in the conversation.

They fell away towards the end of last term but with some more firepower and more defensive solidity, they should be right back up there.

So, who could they sign? Well, they've already turned down Newcastle star Anthony Gordon, although there is a belief according to reports that they could go back in for him.

Another player happens to be his England colleague Marc Guehi.

The latest on Marc Guehi's future

Next summer could see three vital players leave Anfield behind. All of Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are out of contract. Of the three, you sense that Salah could be the first to jump ship.

However, if the latter takes his leave, they will need reinforcements. They may even need them before he departs.

One option could be Crystal Palace's Guehi. Slapped with an asking price of £65m, he has been the subject of interest from Liverpool in recent weeks, although considering his performances at Euro 2024, his signature could now be harder to obtain.

There also appears to be interest from Tottenham so if Richard Hughes and Co do make a move, it won't be straightforward to get over the line.

What Heskey has said about Marc Guehi

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast on behalf of 888sport, Emile Heskey chatted to us about Liverpool's recruitment for this summer.

Asked about Guehi's displays, he was left incredibly impressed with the centre-back's level of performance in Germany this summer.

Although suspended for the quarter-final clash with Switzerland, he has been a rock at the heart of England's backline, taking Harry Maguire's left-centre back role and making it his own.

"He has looked so composed and assured," Heskey began. "I’ve been very impressed with him and he’s been one of England’s best players of the tournament so far. He has been solid in every game and formed an excellent partnership with John Stones at centre-back."

The defender has only been a bit part of England squads in recent international breaks but he has now become a mainstay, something that has left the former Liverpool striker gushing.

Heskey continued: "Not playing a competitive game for England before at a major tournament, you have to say Guehi has been mightily impressive with the calmness he has shown throughout each game so far in the competition."

So, would he be a good signing for Slot? Heskey – who played for the Three Lions on 62 occasions – concluded: "He would be superb alongside Van Dijk. There is no better centre-back to learn from than him and it would take his game to the next level.

"Guehi has been so comfortable bringing the ball out from defence, he has good pace as well, so this would work well at Liverpool should it happen."

The Palace star did struggle with injury last term but featured on 25 occasions in the league, also captaining the club at times.

The red-ball players will leave Pakistan early to quarantine before the home series against Australia

Both the South African and Australian Test squads will quarantine ahead of their yet-to-be-confirmed three-Test series in March, in what will be the strictest biosecure bubble yet in South Africa. Unlike for the England and Sri Lanka series, where training could begin after the squads had taken their first Covid-19 tests – though social interaction was not allowed until after the third test – for the Australia series, players on both sides will be confined to their rooms for a longer period of time.For that reason, South Africa’s Test squad will leave Pakistan on February 9 to begin their quarantine period at home. A separate squad will play the three T20Is in Pakistan on February 11, 13, and 14 in what CSA director of cricket Graeme Smith sees as an inevitable consequence of the times and something member boards will have to work together to ensure the cricket calendar is as unaffected as possible.Related

“When you work on biosecure environment protocols for Covid-19, you work with other member nations and if member nations don’t support each other and play cricket, cricket’s going to find itself in a very challenging space,” Smith said. “Your objective is to find the protocols that work for both. In working with Cricket Australia (CA), we’ve come to a lot of those medical conclusions and how that’s going to look. There will be an initial quarantine period before that series. Unfortunately, we would have to play two different squads at the time.”While the dates for the Australia series are expected within the next week, ESPNcricinfo understands they are at an advanced stage and will see Australia playing Tests at SuperSport Park and the Wanderers in March. Although Smith told Australian media late last year that he would like to have fans at the grounds for the matches, with South Africa battling through a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, that is highly unlikely. Currently, the country is on Level 3 Lockdown (of five levels, with five being the strictest) and no spectators are allowed into stadiums, while all sports events have to finish by 8pm. The lockdown status will be reviewed before February 15 but even if it changes, it is unlikely to make provision for crowds. Insiders have confirmed that CA has already asked for more extreme measures than either the ECB or SLC required, and CSA is doing all it can to make it happen.The series is the marquee event of this South African summer which has already seen a T20 series against England (but the ODIs that were to follow were postponed following concerns about the bubble in Cape Town) and festive season Tests against Sri Lanka. The men’s team are currently on their first tour to Pakistan since 2007 while the women’s team are hosting Pakistan, with more fixtures in the pipeline. But for CSA, the Australia series is a money-making opportunity through television rights, and a key series because of the historic needle between the two sides.”We would love to get our home summer completed, and Australia are a big part of that home summer. Not only do we want to get it played, we want to compete in that series,” Smith said. “We saw from the Australia-India series the hype around Test cricket. I think it’s going to be a great test of where we are as a squad. We are motivated. The last time a Test series with Australia happened in South Africa it was very heated and we all know what went on. We are very excited to be able to host Australia, but that comes with certain restrictions and medical protocols.”The same is likely to apply to another other cricket played in South Africa this summer, and possibly beyond. The domestic franchise one-day cup is currently being played in a biobubble in Potchefstroom, which was organised late last year after it became clear that having teams travel to various venues around the country would not work. That was the case for the franchise first-class competition, in which two games were affected by Covid-19 in the penultimate round of 2020, and the final round was postponed.All indications are that any other domestic cricket that takes place, including the remaining first-class fixtures, a franchise T20 cup and semi-professional cricket, which has been dormant since before the pandemic hit, will have to take place in biosecure environments as well. “I’m quite positive that with all the Covid-19 issues we’ve been able to get cricket played. There’s going to be a focus on trying to get semi-pro underway,” Smith said.With South African domestic cricket’s impending restructure to 15 provincial teams and no franchises, this season’s semi-professional matches are important for players who are pushing to be contracted next season. At least 75 cricketers across the current franchise and provincial structures will find themselves out of a job, so competing for places is their work this summer.Just as it is for the national men’s team. After slipping as low as eighth on the Test rankings last summer, and winning just one of the five trophies on offer, they are in a period of rebuilding and although Smith would like to see results, he believes this season is one of patience instead. “We want our team to win as much as possible but I wouldn’t say that’s the defining thing for me this season. I would like to answer a few questions in my own head. I think the selectors and the coaching staff would want to do the same,” he said. “(Because of the pandemic) there are going to be more opportunities for players than in the past. I’m really excited to see who puts their hand up and who are the people we can back into the future.”

There’s no denying that since the Saudi PIF’s takeover of Newcastle United back in 2021, the Magpies have had more money to spend on improving their squad.

Boss Eddie Howe has spent upwards of £300m since his appointment, but their recruitment has been fantastic, allowing the club to feature in the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.

Signings of players such as Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon have allowed for a rapid progression on the field, with the latter registering 21 goal contributions, resulting in interest from the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea this summer.

Newcastle’s shrewd business this summer has continued with the addition of centre-back Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth on a free transfer after his contract expired back at the end of June.

However, despite the latest addition in the defensive department, the Magpies boss wants more reinforcements, including one player who’s free to leave his current club.

Newcastle want £30m defensive ace this summer

According to GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle are one of the teams in the race to sign Chelsea centre-back Trevor Chalobah this summer.

The 25-year-old, who made 13 Premier League appearances last season, also has admirers from Manchester United and West Ham United amid a potential summer exit from Enzo Maresca’s side.

Chalobah wasn’t included in the Blues’ trip to the US, with journalist Graeme Bailey also confirming that the defender won’t be included in the club’s Premier League list ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The report suggests that he could be available for £30m this summer, a bargain considering his comparison to a top-level Premier League talent.

Why Chalobah has been compared to Saliba

Should the Magpies secure a deal for the former England youth international, it wouldn’t be the first time they have done business with Chelsea in recent years.

Just last summer, Howe’s side completed a deal to sign left-back Lewis Hall from the Blues on an initial loan deal, with an obligation to buy for £28m.

The youngster managed 18 league appearances under Howe last campaign, scoring his first Premier League goal against Manchester United – looking to be a great investment for the present and the future.

12 months on, the Magpies have been presented with another opportunity to replicate their masterclass in signing Hall, with Chalobah having undeniable quality, especially when analysing his stats from the 2023/24 campaign.

According to FBref, Chalobah is ranked as a similar player to Arsenal’s star defender William Saliba – a reflection of how impressive he’s been for his boyhood club despite his limited minutes.

The comparison isn’t far-fetched at all when comparing their respective stats from the last 12 months, with the Chelsea "soldier", as dubbed by former boss Graham Potter, matching or even beating the Frenchman in key defensive areas per 90.

The Englishman averaged nearly double the number of tackles won, whilst also completing double the amount of clearances registered by Saliba during the same time period.

He also matched the Arsenal man for interceptions completed, proving that defensively, he could be a great addition to Howe’s side.

Whilst on the face of it, £30m may seem a hefty sum for the 25-year-old, it would actually be excellent business, with Chelsea undoubtedly losing one of their better defenders depart the club.

He’s proven his talents in recent months, with Newcastle needing to pounce to prevent losing out on him, whilst also capitalising on the Blues’ naivety – such as with the capture of Hall – in offloading such a talented asset.

وقال سالم في تصريحات تلفزيونية بفضائية “إم بي سي مصر 2”: “النقلة لجروس كانت مخاطرة كبيرة لأنه جاء في منتصف الموسم وقبل مباريات مهمة، لكن الفريق تأقلم بسرعة وعاد إلى طريق الانتصارات، جروس نجح في تطبيق أسلوبه مع الفريق، ونتمنى أن تستمر النتائج الإيجابية في الفترة المقبلة”.

وأشار سالم إلى اكتمال الجهاز الفني لجروس بعد التعاقد مع مدرب حراس مرمى جديد، ما يعزز استقرار الفريق على المستوى الفني.

وفيما يتعلق بالأولويات الإدارية، أوضح سالم أن المجلس يركز حاليًا على تسوية المستحقات المالية للاعبين، قائلاً: “أولوياتنا القصوى هي سداد المستحقات عن الموسم الحالي، وبعد ذلك سنبدأ التجديد للاعبين الكبار الذين تنتهي عقودهم هذا الموسم، مثل أحمد زيزو وعبد الله السعيد وعمر جابر”.

وحول ما تردد عن وجود عرض من نادي الاتفاق السعودي لضم زيزو، نفى سالم ذلك تمامًا، قائلاً: “هذا الكلام غير صحيح ولا أساس له من الصحة، وحتى الآن لم يجدد نادي نيوم مفاوضاته معنا مرة أخرى”.

وفيما يخص ملف سيف الدين الجزيري، أوضح سالم: “ننتهي أولاً من المستحقات المالية، ثم نفتح هذا الملف، سيف لاعب كبير ودولي ومتمسك بالزمالك، والعلاقة بيننا طيبة، بعد الانتهاء من المستحقات، يمكن الحديث عن التجديد أو أي مفاوضات جديدة”.

علمت مصادر إخبارية أن نادي مانشستر سيتي يكثف جهودة للتوقيع مع أحد لاعبي يوفنتوس الإيطالي خلال فترة الانتقالات الشتوية الحالية.

ويطمح مدرب مانشستر سيتي بيب جوارديولا إلى تعزيز صفوف فريقه، أملاً في تحسين نتائج الفريق هذا الموسم في الدوري الإنجليزي ودوري أبطال أوروبا.

وأكد الصحفي الموثوق دي مارزيو، أن مانشستر سيتي يضع نصب عينيه التعاقد مع مدافع يوفنتوس، أندريا كامبياسو، لتعزيز خط دفاعه.

وتابع دي مارزيو أن مانشستر سيتي مستعد إلى تقديم عرض يتراوح مابين 60 إلى 65 مليون يورو من أجل ضم المدافع الإيطالي في الفترة الحالية.
